I wonder how much the PSA is when done in conjunction with other blood tests cholesterol, sugar etc?
If it doesn’t get all cancers, why don’t they just do the digit in the office. 5-7 seconds in and done.
I haven't had insurance the last couple years but have continued to pay for annual blood tests. I used $45 as a rough estimate of how much extra my blood tests cost with the PSA [that probably varies from place to place.] I think I'm estimating on the high side.
As I said, I detest appearing to support Obama, but preventive measures do not always pay off. I suspect, though, that breast cancer tests [which have similar disconnects between costs and benefits] will eventually be covered by government insurance for political reasons while the PSA test will not -- for political reasons.
Men won't insist on their test. Women probably will -- and will get it.
