The parents of Trayvon Martin have been saluted by Ebony magazine.
Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton were named Ebony Power 100 honorees. So was Benjamin Crump, their attorney, at a celebration last week in New York.

WHY NOT?
They are celebrating the product of social engineering.
Thug Life??? ---- LOLOL
They’re still negotiating a centerfold spread in Playas, Boyeee!
Crock o' horse hockey. 'Honored' by Ebony magazine because they let their child go feral instead of raising him to be a worthwhile citizen? 'Scuse me while I spit a nail or two.
For blacks, it’s all about self esteem, even if it’s fake and vapid.
Let's not paint with such a broad brush. Not every black person operates that way.
The first zotted comment above was one that claimed “most blacks are garbage.” Without echoing once more (which also got zotted) that the ones that are did it to themselves, I must comment that it’s breathtaking how cheap identity politics have so swamped out plain old common sense. Honorable men of any color of the rainbow — and surely even green Martians if there were Martians to be green — of course would want their next generation to be honorable too. Trayvon’s parents were the picture of dysfunction. We’re watching a tragedy unfold, bemused by it all right now, but at some point it will become downright frightening.
You are correct, of course. What evil, wicked spell has overtaken the world that a minority (if slightly so) race in America has in such large numbers chosen to honor what is dishonorable? Not that palefaces are wearing halos, because they have winked and nodded at this if not egged it on themselves.
And truly I mean that. How many white folks have just responded “oh, how cute” (if not in such words out loud) when seeing yet another movie glorifying violence by black people come out of Hollywood?
Do we have the politics of revenge here? Well if the children of former American slaves should mostly succeed in socking it utterly to the rest of America, assuming they wish to do so, then what do they do for a sequel? Do they celebrate this triumph by proceeding to live in squalor?
The dignity of man has gone in the toilet. And God is very angry at that, because God made man to be pictures of Him.
You are correct, 5% or less of Blacks did not vote for “the first black president”. Probably 7% do not vote for black American Idol contestants. “The first black this” and the “First black that” from Survivor to each States elective Body to Potus, shows a culture grasping at self esteem. Having the most expensive pair of sneakers or the most women knocked up also seems part of black self esteem. Sadly, as a group, they are stil two to three generations from shedding these shackles, and I do blame them for not seeing how they are used by the race pimps. They are self limiting and self confining on the liberal plantation.
It's not that everything you said is untrue. It's that it doesn't apply straight across the boards, which makes it a suppressive generality.

Yes, and all us darkies love fried chicken and watermelon more than anything else on earth. /s
I’m not saying anything is absolute, but there is a preponderance of need for pursuing self esteem in the black community, and much of it does not help them. Gang bangers have too much self esteem. Trayvon had too much Voting for the “First Black President” or A drugged out Jesse Jackson Jr or Marion Barry does not help them improve their own lives, but it has been sold to blacks as a “sign” or as validation. Until Clarence Thomas and Thomas Sowell are revered and respected, and I’ll say it, as much socialist MLK, and by a measurable percentage, black culture is at a loss.
Skip the racial epithets and race baiting.
What you're seeing are merely the surface symptoms of a much more powerful group pathology, which is the multi-generational effects of outright oppression and the wholesale manipulation and indoctrination of black people by the Democrat left.
Perhaps I see the connections and track of all this more clearly than others because it's a part of my own family history. It's rather personal, and has touched me directly in my own life.
In essence, blacks (in general) are a destroyed sub-group of American culture. It's just a fact, and it's why I'm raising my own children outside the direct influence of that environment. There's a certain contagion of aberration that I refuse to allow them to become the effect of. Like any parent, I want to give them the best possible chance for success in life, and that starts with raising them as a part of the majority American culture.
Anyhow, it's a huge subject. One that's difficult to fully address within the confines of a discussion forum like this. Perhaps one day I'll just roll up my sleeves and write the book.
George Zimmerman performed a public service that was likely long overdue.
