Flashing back to 2011, I was rather unenthusiastic about the slate of candidate, and to be perfectly honest, I was hoping that Gov. Palin was going to step into the fray, but I certainly had one criterion I was not going to budge on one inch: absolutely NOT Mitt Romney.
Why? Because Romney is the Republican Bill Clinton -- someone who will say or do whatever it takes to get votes. Someone for whom getting the office was important than what he'd do once he got there. Admittedly, Romney was above Clinton's alley-cat morals, but that was the only nice thing I could really say about him. Also, Obamabacare was where Obama was most vulnerable, and Romneycare would neutralize that issue (as indeed, it pretty much has).
And the thought of him being the GOP nominee? Well, I swore that the GOP would not get my vote if that were to come to pass.
Of course, we all saw how the primaries played out -- the establishment GOP rallied behind Romney, and every potential challenger was shot down one by one until no one was left standing (although Ron Paul never quit, but continued raving into the wind). And I reaffirmed my vow not to vote for Romney.
Now, in large part, I have that luxury, as I live in a deep blue state. If Maryland is competitive that my vote matters, Romney is already winning with 400+ EV. So unlike others, I have the ability of voting my conscience without any risk of effecting the outcome.
So why have I changed my mind?
Simply put, Obama. With two diametrically opposed visions for America on display, I cannot bring myself to not vote against Obama. Leaving the line blank or going with a third party fails to send the message that I agree with Romney's stated vision, even if I'm unsure I trust Romney to fulfill it.
In either case, when I walk out of my polling station on Tuesday, I'm going to feel dirty. So, if I'm going to feel that way anyway, why should I do anything other than the less selfish choice. My singular vote, my lone voice, of course does not matter, but there must be many others like me. Join with me and cast an affirmative vote against Obama by voting for Romney. Then go home, take a shower, get drunk, whatever it takes to get over the disgusted feeling, and start thinking of ways to hold our elected officials to their conservative promises.
In short, I don't like Romney.
I don't trust Romney.
But I will vote for Romney. Join me.
Obama and his agenda is a massive evil. I'd crawl through a sea of broken glass to vote against him.
Conservatism is a fundamentally pragmatic philosophy. We deal with reality, not idealism. We survey the options that are available, not pie-in-the-sky options that aren’t. We are grounded, goal-oriented, and able to make tough decisions even when none of the available options are ideal. It is this that makes us good leaders and good Americans.
We do not have false notions that our candidate is the messiah ... and we do not need them. Idealism has its moments, but the the fundamental truth of life is that reality will intervene in your idealism. Conservatives deal with this reality by making the difficult choices. Liberals are immune to it.
This is why conservatism is the best choice for the country, and why Romney is the best choice for the conservative. Let liberals fall on the sword of hopeless idealism.

You were right the first time. Instead of mccain, we got us a ‘thing’. And we don’t even know where it came from, what its name is, how old it is, or WHAT it is.
This is me and my husband... i was so annoyed when Romney entered the race... however, i am now at a place where i am not only voting against Obama... i am actually voting for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan... and i won ‘t feel dirty doing it...
I have several times posed the semi-rhetorical question “Why would I vote for a guy who was acceptable to the same electorate that kept a murderer and a traitor in the Senate for decades?”.
After The Won’s crack to Dmitri Medvedev about “having more flexibility after the election”, I had my answer.
“Because he hasn’t promised to throw the castle gates open to the encircling barbarian hordes”.
I guess my cred is shot, because I went and voted for Romney anyway. The thought of four more years of Obama was simply too much. I've been deeply affected in a negative way by BO, but I still have a chance of regaining my former rung on the ladder if he isn't re-elected. So Romney it is.
Big of you to finally realize that what we’ve been telling you for a year is correct. Better late than never.
I was 100% against Romney too- but I think I was wrong
I did not know about his many charitable works- that to me says more about him than anything else- he is a good man.
But more than that, he is excruciatingly humble about it. How many people do you know who gave away 58% of their income to charity?
Plus all the thngs he has done to help people PERSONALLY
He may havce taken some votes and signed some bills I oppose- but he was in MA. He was a REPUBLICAN who won MA. He had a democrap state to deal with.
plus the fact that if Obama wins we will be dead as a nation. I am voting ACROSS THE BOARD REPUBLICAN
But i will primary the heck out of them in 2 years to make sure more conservatives defeat incumbent RINO’s
And... if Romney turns out to be one- him too.
About 25 family members of mine have voted - all for Romney/Ryan. I wasn’t a fan of his AT ALL, but one thing I’ve come to believe is that he does love our country and our people and with his business experience and Ryan by his side, I think we have a chance of getting our country back. Hopefully before it’s too late.
(Our family has ONE liberal, but he’s been to the pen and cannot vote :) )

This is another case of where the Headline does not match the article. The Headline says you “Endorse” Romnay. But the article says...
“In short, I don’t like Romney.
I don’t trust Romney.
But I will vote for Romney. Join me.”
There’s a big difference between simply voting for Romney (and most importantly - AGAINST OBAMA) and endorsing him. I understand you will vote for him. Good. So will I. But I do not endorse him. Not based on his record. No way.
At the end of the day.... I hope Obama loses. That will be good enough for now.
Later - we work on making sure Romney turns conservaive.

No, I think “endorse” is the right word. I am not only voting for Romney but actively encouraging others to do so. I do feel the need to qualify my endorsement in that it is given grudgingly, but it is an endorsement nonetheless.
Without factoring in anything from BOzo’s past, I knew he was b.s. because what he said he planned to do couldn’t ever be paid for the way he said it could. It was plain to see his plans would corrode the middle class and also drag more “rich” people into the middle class.
Mutt isn’t going to reverse anything he claims he’s going to if/when he wins. He can’t be trusted but he’s smart enough to throw around some conservative talk to dupe people. Nobody should be surprised when he turns out to be a complete snake.
As dismal as my view of Mutt is, he might slow the 100mph drive off the cliff down to 97mph. Actually, a 2nd term BOzo & Co. are likely to floor it Thelma and Louise style.
Kagan, Sotomayor and...? One more on the USSC like these two, and we’re done for as a country.

Here’s one more reason; someone who has done to America what Obama has done should NEVER be rewarded with a second term, even if Romney were just as bad (which I don’t believe by a long shot). It would set a terrible precident, and encourges others to follow in his footsteps.
I would vote for Charles Manson over obama if that was the choice.
After the election if Romney wins and doesn’t govern as a conservative, if he compromises with the left, if he keeps Obamacare, he will wish I hadn’t voted for him!
How? By claiming "I don’t like Romney. I don’t trust Romney", but vote for him anyway? Hardly compelling if you ask me.
