So sick of all these politicians and their messiah complexes. Get the problem fixed or STFU and step down. And i have to laugh at the child like sheep and drones saying "Obama looked so presidential!"
Really? Are some people so gullible, incompetent, and naive to still fall for these publicity stunts? He comes in for 1 hour - 1 hour - and then heads off to Vegas AGAIN for a fundraiser. Boy doesn't that jog my memory of September 12, 2012 as our embassy was in flames w the flag of Al Queada flying high and the ambassador and 2 Navy Seals dead. Wake up people - these politicians are all the same.
I'm sitting in the dark, listening to the radio by flashlight, scavenging for gas in order to get to work, and obama / bloomberg / christie are taking victory laps? Are you FNG KIDDING ME ? ? ? ?
And now BloomBUM wants to hold the marathon while Queens and Staten Island are a mess? How about hand rations to the runners to deliver to the stressed and strapped out homeowners?
Sorry for the rant - just really pissed off.
Stay safe everyone.
As for the Marathon, I hope those asshole runners get pissed on as they jog through Brooklyn and Queens.
Just derove past a two mile long gas line on Northern Blvd. that stretched for two miles from Great Neck to CIP.
Poor Obama, stumping for votes and overseeing the Sandy disaster must be playing hell with his golfing schedule.
Okay, I admit I’m being silly....Sandy will have no impact on his golfing schedule.
Christie Creme is getting ready to Larry Sinclaire ole Barry if he wins for tens of billions in money for NJ.
He is so transparent in this.
“there are people who are mad at those that prepared and demand they help those that didnt.”
FRiend, that is the essence of Socialism. And if their demands turn to physical violence, that is Communism.
The problem is the sheer number of useless slugs in the NYC metro area.
We literally have millions upon millions useless, helpless, layabouts and unproductive people here.
A lot of hungry angry people not able to gainfully and peacably feed themselves.
Think “Walking Dead”
We have over a years supply of freeze dried food. But then we live up in the Olympic Peninsula miles from anywhere. We’re all pretty self sufficient. Preparedness is the key. I don’t think that city folk have that presence of mind to prepare.
I don't think he'll need to worry about that anymore. (Ann Coulter's talk with Glenn Beck the other morning tells me that even SHE gets it.)
If Christie had balls as big as his mouth he would have told the poser in chief, "Give me everything I need now or I tell the cameras you refused without my public praise."
I didn't want to be too hard on the guy the other day here on FR, but I believe you are probably right. Anyone who was surprised he didn't turn into some righteous, combative conservative action hero has not been paying attention to a number of realities. Your suggestion might have been an excellent way for him to deal with the thug-in-chief.
I have to hand it to all of you NYC-area FReepers who have to deal with layers of governmental, union and - apparently - next-door-neighbor intransigence that make my own situation look like a libertarian's dream; under good circumstances, it has to suck... and these are not good circumstances.
Mr. niteowl77
Then again, people had several days notice of the event. I guess they figured it wouldn’t be that bad and didn’t bother to stock up.
For letting this happen in his state, Chris Christie is a big fat coward.
And of course the press won't cover this and criticize Christie for anything. Christie got his free pass when he wet smooched Obama.
Good for you for doing what seemed right to you. We are not diehard preppers like some, but we are always prepared in my house, too.
We live outside of Houston! We better be ready to live with problems or move fast! Really, I think being prepared for yourself and to help others is a part of the culture here with a lot of people. You have to have emergency money set aside for evacuation or you end up in nasty shelters.
Sometimes you have to relocate and start all over if you don’t have the constitution to tolerate lowly living for a year or so while they try to rebuild. Better than living in waterworld.

Welcome to the world of southern ice storms and hurricanes. A five days to a week without power is not uncommon down here.
Hang in there.
FRiend, that is the essence of Socialism. And if their demands turn to physical violence, that is Communism.
More like it is a symptom of the mental disorder called socialism. Imagine this.
Big government socialists laughed at preppers. How silly of them to think government would not be there to protect them.
Then when government is not there to protect them in their time of need, the Big Government Socialist think it is correct to attack those that prepped.
How could any sane person think that way ? Big Government Socialism is a mental disorder.
Good point.
Because of where I live a lot of my neighbors are first generation (half the adults on my street were born overseas). But, they are all educated and successful enough to pay a minimum of $750k to buy a house.
My point is that even though there are multiple nationalities, languages and religions in my neighborhood, everybody is cool with everybody else and there's a lot of "what do you need, what can I do? going on.
Of course there's an under-pinning of old-school 'Mericans around too and we are the ones setting the example with the chain saws and the DIY road-clearing.
A while ago I made it a mission to find out who's around who's been around. I got another former LEO and a Marine on the block. We are all ready for anything and on the same page about who has what covered. Oddly enough, we are also the only guys with cigars and single malts in the house.
Unfortunately, I have more natural born citizens around who are more ACLU than NRA than I do guys I can count on, but, hey, this is NY.
One guy in particular is a real lib/metro/dope. I lost a tree in front and I had it butchered and stacked before the rain stopped falling. He came walking by and shook his head in disbelief that this was something you could do yourself...he actually said that he would have waited for the town. His house has the only Obama/Biden sign in the neighborhood...kinda says it all.
Cuomo so far has been keeping out the limelight and just going about his work. He has done the most mature job amongst the others.
The vast majority of those in extremis now stayed in what were supposed to be ‘mandatory’ flood zones, with plenty of advance notice not just to get supplied—but to get out.the City had unused emergency shelter space into hundreds of thousands.
hoping and praying you have power soon (I cannot get into NYC from NJ by train yet); as soon as we have power back, what will be your most urgent needs?
The marathon is more important than the downtrodden, its for the greater good. Besides, this cut in caloric intake just makes New Yorkers healthier.
