We've received many emails over the last week or so from readers asking us to get to the bottom of this situation/rumors du jour...I'm not sure that we can actually do that quickly, but here is what we've been hearing...
First of all, over the last week there have been many reports that the AFRICOM commander, GEN Carter Ham, had been arrested by his second in command and relieved of command. The reasoning in several articles from journalists and bloggers is that GEN Ham was ready to violate a do-not-assist order with regards to Benghazi. I would think that there are too many people who would know about this that could keep an event like that as quiet as it seems to have been kept.
GEN Ham, with 42 years under his belt, could actually retire TOMORROW, and we should see what he has to say when he retires. Since the announcement of his being replaced, GEN Ham has been seen speaking at several functions. Hardly the position of someone who was arrested for insubordination...or as some are suggesting, the leader of a coup. But it is possible that he was removed for violating orders in a manner without arrest.
On back channel, there has been talk that GEN Ham is actually being relieved for another mission - one that was denied airspace access by a sovereign nation, and that GEN Ham intentionally violated airspace rules/laws in order to complete a mission (not Benghazi). There is also talk that GEN Ham is resigning in disgust of the chain of command - literally, with the Commander in Chief - and that he is trying to do so as apolitically as possible (and Ham is seen as being one of "the President's guys"). One would think that someone would wait for an election just days away to be over before resigning in protest (because you might have a new CinC), but who knows? On Monday, GEN Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, declared that GEN Ham's departure was part of a planned rotation in the works since July. Hhmmm...
Then, we have an up and coming Rear Admiral being relieved of command of the Stennis carrier group. This is significant as it is not due to conduct unbecoming, personal conduct, or for incompetence, but for "inappropriate leadership judgment". What?!
Admiral Charles M. Gaouette was relieved of command mid-deployment which is rare (understatement). From the AP:
WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. Navy said Saturday it is replacing the admiral in command of an aircraft carrier strike group in the Middle East, pending the outcome of an internal investigation into undisclosed allegations of inappropriate judgment...
One theory is that GEN Ham asked the Stennis strike group for assistance with intelligence and military response in the face of a "do not assist" order and that Admiral Gaouette attempted to follow through on GEN Ham's requests for assistance for the men in Benghazi. Another theory is that Gaouette was also part of a military coup. I think that's ridiculous and not in the cards with our GO's (and you would see an entirely different reaction that just relief of command).
It's hard to say what is truth and what is fiction right now. This is all speculation for the moment. And some of these rumors might have been started to ensure that the truth doesn't come out until after the election.
Are the two removals related?
Are Ham and Gaouette fall out from a cover up of Benghazi?
Is there any truth behind the rumors?
I read an article on FR or Stars & Stripes dealing with unprecedented firings of Navy Commanders in the recent months.
Most were cited as reasonable reasons for removal.
I cannot locate the story though.
Whodda thunk the Benghazi disaster would turn into one of those, “Don’t ask don’t tell” things. Cover ups can get ugly.
Nothing like a vote of non-confidence.
If Dear Leader thinks the majority in there will back him when he declares martial law, he’s smokin’ too much of his own hopium.
Rumors? Sounds more like legitimate leaks.
If Gen Ham is retiring tomorrow, then perhaps he will speak out, unless they’re holding his pension over his head?
Congress could put a stop to that sort of black mail, right?
I am very uncomfortable with this whole story, and I am soooo anti everything about Oblather .. But this is tooooo good to be true.. maybe I’m just getting too old for this new s#it.. :)
I/we don’t yet know how, or to what depth......but these activities are ALL related to Bengazi. No doubt. S**t’s hittin’ the fan States-side.....everyone but the MSM are all over it....and the motivations of Obambi and his crew of candy-assed morons are under severe scrutiny, deepening by the hour. These pricks, from the so-called president on down the chain of command, are hiding something big; big enough to sacrifice American lives on sovereign American soil with the most idiotic, lamest cover story imaginable (”...see, it was all about this insensitive video and....”).
Oh....and some poor, dumb bastard “film maker” is sitting in a jail as a scapegoat.
Welcome to Amerika. This isn’t my country any longer. Don’t know where the hell I’m living any more, but it’s more like Nazi Germany in the ‘30’s than the America I grew up in.
Makes me want to puke.
If anything sinister were going on within the government, we'd read about it in the New York Times or even the Washington Post. They are, after all, the Fourth Estate, the watchdogs, guardians of our republic, a responsibility that take very seriously.
It's another Obama strike at the US Military and another perk for Obama's unions.
This is what I believe could be Obama’s critical error. And why he needs to put everything on the CIA - hoping that the military people will forget the protocols and contingency plans. But they know this is all a bunch of bullcrap. You don’t have an ambassador calling the White House to say he’s under attack and not have the military go into action getting assets ready to assist.
I think a lot of military people are seeing through this garbage; the mask just came off of Obama. I would not want to be Obama asking any of these guys to cover his backside in a pinch...
Need more Republican Senators after next Tuesday to help with the Republican House.
Once Obama is fired, we can see about throwing him in jail.
When a person is no longer president, he can be prosecuted...
should make you want to get out the vote.....right after you puke of course (I’ve been retching a lot lately)
Vous êtes si drôle.
Better look at Wiki: Mr. Obama is a Democrat.
This is definately one of those “where there’s smoke, there’s fire”.
If this whole mess doesn’t explode before Tuesday, I will be surprised. Thinking many “Partiots” in the know are fed up. Leaks are turning into a stream already.
Then to top it off, hitlery’s State Dept. just got fingered for NOT RESPONDING. Them klintoons will not like it under the bus.
I believe he forgot the sarc/ tag.
“Oh....and some poor, dumb bastard film maker is sitting in a jail as a scapegoat.”
People need to stop feeling sorry for that creep. He’s a prime example of the Middle Eastern trash that has poured into California in recent years. I’d mention that he has been convicted of financial fraud, but since I’ve already mentioned that he’s Middle Eastern it would be redundant.
this is my 10 thousandth time postin this but...........
the most unreported story is from 2 fronts
1. why did the FBI do a damned thing over seas ?
2. why did it take America 27 days to examine “ the crime scene “
...and of course I know the answers
If it takes a military coup to get rid of the marxists, I am in favor. It took an armed revolution to establish this republic in the first place. The Second Republic will hopefully adhere to the principles of the first.
