The fact that some of you guys are defending FR’s crappy performance is quite surprising. This is now the third debate where this site has all but shut completely down! And this is acceptable to you guys? Sorry, but after all of these Freepathons, you'd think they could do an equipment upgrade? Yes? Defending substandard performance is nothing to be proud of.

yes, it goes down. But the bottlenecks seem to be outside of FR, and that is predictable enough - there’s huge consumers of bandwith at times like this.

I’m really upset. I’d like to see an explanation for why things were better in past election years. If the amount the freepathons bring in is not enough to keep thousands on the site for really big nights, it takes all the fun out of FR. There could never have been a thread on 9/11. If anything big happens this place will no longer be there for us. I donate to have it here. I donate because I want to rely on it. I can’t. So I am rethinking donating.

I would love an explanation of what the problem is, what it will cost to fix it, and other ideas like why couldn’t we have a chat room for big events? I only want to donate if there is a chance we could be here on big nights. Otherwise it’s just not the central conservative forum. It’s a forum for slow news days only.

Yes, I agree. It is maddening how slow FR gets during these times. I'm no software expert, but why couldn't FR have a chat room or something like that going on in addition to the forum? Other sites do this quite successfully (like during an NFL game). Then you could see your comments come up almost instantly.
