Why should my well-informed, conservative sister-in-law who has been lurking regularly at FR for months, if not years now, sign up for an account here? For some reason, she is reluctant. Help me convince her with some good FReeper common sense and humour, and I'll show her this thread later.
P.S. Tonight I may have recruited a very well informed, conservative neighbour to join the forces too. :) We went to the Israel Awareness event at Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada, CO and she got a signed book by Pastor John Hagee.
Yes ma’am. You will find one call for a zot (or repeated zot at me by one person), two accusations of trolling, also one said I should post at DU. Typical for a newbie.
Tell her that if anyone welcomes her to FR, it’s Bad News. There is no real welcoming here.
ROFL
You have to have a thick skin, and be able to brush off accusations of trolling and being a DUer.
“You are so lucky to have a conservative sister in law.”
I know right? It seems like everyone has a story about their crazy leftie sister-in-law...
Welcome! :)
I have a brother turned leftie, my sisters are clueless and all my nephews love Obama. It's just my mother and I who are conservative.
No kidding! So you lurkee long time, too?
I’m so sorry. I don’t think I have one lefty in mine, including all my inlaws. Although I did have an idiot niece complain to my husband that she didn’t like the idea of Romney “running the government ‘like a business’”. My husband set her straight on that. She used to be smarter, but now she’s got two under the age of 4 and has been infected by “warrior mama” syndrome.
Yeah, but I was never a full-time lurker. I used to hang at a biker forum, and one of the members (our old friend Josh Painter) was also a member of FR. He'd post articles on that forum, but would always provide a link to the FR post of the same article. Lots of the members wound up coming here to read because of that.
Took about three years or so, but in time, I felt like throwing in my two cents, and so I joined. Close to 29,000 posts later, and I'm still here, yammering away :-)
Being undead is necessary from time to time.

Welcome aboard.
I lurked for years.
There is not another conservative site on Earth that is so engaging and interactive as Free Republic. I joined almost as soon as I found the place.
It was like the first time I listened to Rush Limbaugh and realized I wasn’t the only sane person on Earth after all.
Congrats

It’s good to be around like-minded people. I know we are all not lock step. We may not be on the same page, but we are mostly in the same book.
When the thread is dead, the furniture comes to life!
You do know that I was kidding don’t you? :o)
Ah Ha! I may be late, but I caught ya blowing yer own horn again. Can't turn my back on you even for a day.
And, as for me, I consider you to be one of those finest people and real friend.
Welcome home SWAS. Just remember one thing. Pay no attenton to Brad’s Gramma. She is sooooo full of herself. :o)
