Can I get a “DUH??” Three examples off the top of my pointy head: Carter, Arafat and Obama. There are more. If Hitler were alive, he’d be another.

Don’t forget AlGore- he got the Peace Prize for making a movie of environmental falsehood. The Nobel Prize has less prestige than a youth soccer participation trophy.

AL Gore won for his Powerpoint slides over the saintly and more deserving nominee — IRENA SENDLER, who was in her late 90’s and died a year later.

See here for her bio:

After awarding a Nobel Peace Prize to Obama in 2008...how could it possibly go to a mere mortal in this the next election cycle...?

RE: If Hitler were alive, he’d be another.

Neville Chamberlain would have been given the award for bringing “Peace in our time” with his agreement with Hitler.

Could be a typing error I suppose. Maybe they’re coming up with a new Nobel Pizza Prize and didn’t change the spelling.

They didn’t burn a bunch of Pizza delivery cars in Paris this year, so this may be warranted.

How come no thread about Nobel Literature Prize? Do we read? What do we read? Self-published future war tripe of members?

Giving Obama the prize, made it a mere joke for the future.

It means nothing at all anymore. This year’s pick is equally as amusing. It’s as if the body picking the recipient had gone senile.

In 1973, Henry A. Kissinger and Le Duc Tho were waging a brutal and bloody war in Vietnam—one that had not yet ended when the prize was awarded—

Not true. The Paris peace accords were signed by Kissinger and Le Duc Tho in January 1973, with an immediate cease-fire and ending open military action(at least for the time being). The prize was awarded in October 1973.

Not an unreasonable award at the time.

Obama’s prize was absurd especially as we learned how the process works. The nominations for 2009 were due on Feb. 1, 2009, when Obama had been president for exactly 11 days. Clearly, his nomination was not based on anything he had done as president. What a joke.

The Nobel Peace Prize has been a joke for decades. Giving it to Obama in 2008 was just the icing on the cake.
