As recently as yesterday the DUmmies were high-fiving each other over outdated poll results. Today, WILLIAM RIVERS PITT broke that jubilant "Freudenschade" mood by posting the "awful" truth from the latest polling: The latest battleground state and national polls are in. Yes, Will, the latest poll results are in and now the DUmmies are in a state of hilarious panic. Of course, Will himself comes in for a lot of abuse for even daring to post the poll results. So let us now watch the DUmmies drop their Freudenschade victory champagne bottles in Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, placing an order for L-pill futures, is in the [barackets]:

This post really depresses me and I'm not sure exactly why. Maybe it's that I was looking forward to a 1964-style landslide for Obama and I may be disappointed or even devastated at what actually transpires. But I think it's also that, even if we grant that your post-debate numbers are legit, your OP offers no suggestions for how to reverse matters. And it's very late in the game now. What do you suggest we DO at this point? Or are you implying that the race is already over and Obama should start packing his bags? I don't get it.

As Rush says, "I live in Realville folks." And this whole campaign season since Romney got the nominee I could see the phony polls for what they were D+10, D +5, even D +12! There were many FReepers on this forum who could see that the DUmmies and other idiots who were getting excited by the false polls were going to be in a world of hurt come election time when things started to narrow up.

I missed some DUFU installments, so when I started seeing your recent references to “L-Pill,” I wasn’t sure what that was.

Now that a quick google brings up two possibilities, I believe either one would be appropriate for the DUMMIES:

2. L-Pill: A suicide pill

Lots of FUn over at the DUmp. I find it entertaining in that the DUmmies talk about mittens being a bully and yet blame the bamster’s troubles on him not acting the bully.

And then there is the expectation that once Joe “Hard Scrabble Joe” “plugs” Biden turns Paul Ryan into sniveling mass of rice pudding that the bamsters poll numbers will head for new heights. Someone please explain how Biden saves the election for Obama?

What I really liked was the “rope-a-dope” meme from last week after the debate. Obama roped him (Romney) into what? Winning the election? It is not hard to sense that the Prophets of Doom in the Dump are starting to get some traction. The shine is not there anymore. Notice how we are hearing less and less about the 47%, the 99%, tax the rich, let’s see your tax returns, free healthcare, forgive my student loan and more and more “the rethuglicans are liars.”

Of course my bogus DUmmy account is active fooling the fools but I have to be careful as the skin is thin there these days. I’ve noticed that the more I post on the DUmp, my DUmmy alter ego one JackPine Radical stays in the woodwork.

There is still a strong undercurrent of dislike for Romney on FR. I still have twinges of it myself, but the greater fear of four more years of Obama has caused me to tell that part of my brain to sit down and shut up.

That, IMHO, is largely responsible for the relatively subdued level of enthusiasm being expressed.

The other part is simple level-headed caution. Nobody here expects a fair fight. Romney is temporarily in the lead, but the trends are still soft, the numbers are still close, and there is a full month to go.

It’s too early to even buy champagne, let alone pop any corks.
