... even after his DISASTROUS performance during the debate.
She's Italian (came to this country at age 14 in 1956), and I just have a feeling that she misses Mussolini in some way and sees POTUS as a somewhat Mussolini-like figure. She's been all about "social justice" in recent years.
She's been retired for over 10 years and receives an average pension. She's by no means "rich". Very middle class, and dare I say perhaps even lower middle class...
In 2008, she supported Hillary until the very end, and eventually settled with Obama when he got the nomination. She LOVES him and his wife and the entire Obama family.
I cannot comprehend this.
My problem with my 91 yr old mother (who idolizes Clinton), is that she is now end-stage dementia. She barely knows who we are, and has severe delusions. I am afraid that someone will take advantage of her in the nursing home and get her to vote for Obama again. I don’t know how to stop it as we live 150 miles away. However, it is a church-run home that accepts no federal funds, so maybe I’m worrying unnecessarily.
Mussolini was assassinated when she was 1 years old, how could she possibly remember him?
It’s like people that buy Apple products... you can’t fix stupid...
If your 86 year-old mom, armed with her chain saw, paid my 86 year-old mom a visit ...like, say, to borrow a cup of sugar...
Never mind that some comments may hurt her feelings. If she's so in love with Obama, the family and their kids, probably even the pooch, she has no feelings, only an obsession, addiction or fatal attraction with a generous urge for self-immolation.

I feel your pain. My dad passed away last summer at 96. He thought Obama was the greatest thing since sliced bread. World War II veteran and purple heart recipient. Also an old school Italian. I just can’t explain it.
“If your 86 year-old mom, armed with her chain saw, paid my 86 year-old mom a visit ...like, say, to borrow a cup of sugar...”
LOL - that’s a thought. As anti-Zero as my Mom is she’d probably take you up on it.
hey, silvie!
Every family has (at least) one. 2 of my cherished offspring are (or were) big on Obama. We avoid political discussion altogether now.
I will never, ever in a million years understand it. They were raised better than that. They KNOW better. Still, they are swept away with his nonsense, his cliches.
I am tempted to tell them that I’m voting for Obama, too... if that’s the kind of country they want to live in, who am I to deny them? I’ll be gone by the time the full impact of his policies kick in; they won’t.
There is a vid entitled “Dreams from My Real Father” available from http://www.highway61ent.com which is very educational and might cause her to rethink her position.
Good luck!
Clint — Family stories. Tradition.
Her favorite cousin was named “Benita” after the Dictator.
Hi ED! Best to you and to the family... hope to see you soon at a future WMAL event!
Thanks to all of you for the fantastic, humorous and very realistic replies!
I will share them with Mom over a bottle (or two) of Merlot!
How’s she feeling about her Medicaid and Social Security cuts?
Just tell the old girl Election Day is Wed. Nov. 7th.
I bet she buys it.
That’s pretty much what I’m going to say to Mom if she says she’s planning to vote for Obama again. She’s capable of getting there herself, so that’s all I need to know.
Don’t drive her to the polls on November 6.
So she’s a conservative, but tunes in to the media that Pat Caddell basically called an enemy of the American people?
She’s one that has to “see to believe”.
She’s got dual citizenship (Italy & USA), so my guess is that if things get tight here, she’ll just move to her modest apt. in Italy.
Hello Silvie! Great year for the Orioles!
