To Those Of You Conservatives Who Plan On Sitting Out This Election
Vanity | September 26, 2012 | Diamond6

Posted on 09/27/2012 10:28:51 AM PDT by diamond6

A conversation between my husband and a FReeper who wants to sit out the election because he doesn't like Romney:

"See, I believe that we are already past the tipping point.”

You really are naive. Nothing worse can happen, huh?

How about those hefty taxes that are planned for the “rich” (really small businesses) in January? Think that might possibly cause our economy to get even worse by increasing the jobless?

How about the $1 trillion dollar debt (conservatively estimated) for the next fiscal year’s budget and every year’s budget thereafter?

How about the disregard and attacking of the rights of all religious institutions, who will be forced to pay for something they believe is morally wrong? Do you think quite possibly Catholic hospitals and facilities might possibly go out of business?

How about the actual implementation of Obama Care, which will devalue our way of life, drive doctors out of the business, bankrupt insurance companies, and cause skyrocketing premiums?

How about the complete collapse of our economy, which will likely result in unprecented skyrocketing inflation rates and quite possibly a depression that we have never ever seen the likes of?

What about the complete disregard of any and all pro-life protections - babies, the elderly (euthanasia - they won’t be needed anymore?

How about the removal of any moral values for our country at all?

How about World War III in the Middle East, the annihiliation of Israel, and a nuclear holocaust there as well, with the fear of dirty bombs in this country?

How about the removal of all our rights - free speech, freedom of religion, right to bear arms through Obama executive order fiats?

How about the replacement of our conservative judges with ultra liberal anti-Constitutionalists?

How about a Communistic-style of government that will lead us to the point of no return?

Your no vote is a vote for Communism. Congratulations on your “principled” approach. And you’re doing that to teach the party “a lesson”? There won’t be a 2016 election to turn to, after Obama gets done.

You and others like you have no genuine concern or accountability for our country at all.

If you truly believe that helping the SOCIALIST Obama stay in office is a bad thing, then why would you support a party that would replace him with another SOCIALIST (Romney)?

Confirmation keeps coming that voting for staunch Conservatives is the only biblically principled thing for a devout Christian to do this November.

You do know that the word “capital” only refers to property and the means of production right? Just putting capital into the title of a company does not make that a company that supports capitalism. Hint: George Soros owns a lot of stock in a lot of companies ... does that make him any less of a socialist? Does that automatically make him a capitalist? No, not one bit. So instead of focusing on titles, lets look at Rooney’s actions.

HIS ACTIONS, his history, his political career is tied to the introduction, passing and signing into law a SOCIALIST program that serves the basis and the example for Obama’s SOCIALIST program.

So answer me this - if Romney is so dead set against Obama care, why doesn’t he support the complete repeal of first Obama care and then Romney care ... oh right it’s his signature program. The fact is Romney, wants to KEEP parts of Obama/Romney care. Why? Why is Romney more comfortable with a socialist program than the capitalist market?

I know that this is very uncomfortable for you and I know you want to gloss over this and not answer the hard questions. I know it is far easier to try to change the subject and try to move on ... but the fact remains, Romney introduced a socialist program to his state, got the law passed, signed it himself and it was used as the basis for Obamacare.

Other socialist programs you ask, how about his prior positions on the global warming scam, or his support of taking or banning the private ownership of capital (assault weapons) from the individual owners and placing them under state control.

So our choice is between a Marxist and a Socialist.
Romney is not going to be able to change any of the things you mentioned.
We are already headed for a Economic Crash and/or Default, it's not if it happens, but only when.
Both parties are absolutely corrupt and care not a wit to what the rest of us think.
Throw in that Romney has run a lousy campaign, instead of focusing on the Economy and pounding Obama on it, Nothing.
States that should not even be in play for Romney are now a tossup or worse.
So now what??????????????????/

Yes, very true. I’ve said several times on this forum that, despite the fact that I hold Romney in very low regard, I probably will vote for him in the end. Still, if I say anything critical of him, or if I speak out against the ninnies who want to demonize conservatives as “Obama supporters”, well, they attack me as a “purist” or an Obama lover myself. It’s really a very stupid tactic, because it won’t motivate anyone to change their mind, and in fact the demonization tactics are more likely to turn people on the fence about voting for Romney off completely.

They remind me a bit of the Paultards, who managed to come off as less appealing than Ron Paul himself, which was no small feat.

But you can’t get around the fact that the most common reason for conservatives not to vote for Romney is pride.

“I always said I’ll never vote for Romney, so I better stick to it. Or else I might look foolish.”

Ironic how the kind of pride which most seeks to avoid looking foolish is also the kind born of foolishness itself.

Even if it is pride, so what? That doesn’t make the tactic of demonizing them any smarter. In fact, if they are the kind of people who have too much pride to back down, then taunting them is the absolute worst tactic to try and reach them, since it will only harden their resolve. If I was in the mood to appeal to people to vote for Romney, that would be the very furthest tactic from my mind.

Valid point.

Although you must learn to distinguish respectful truth telling from demonizing.

Yes, we know.

Romney made sure of that with his Ruling Class handlers Tuesday at the RNC.

So how long I wonder before the round ups begin and who gets to join the neojudenrat?

Speaking of becoming a tiny minority - wide is the gate that leads to destruction. (Matthew 7:13)

Principled Christian Conservatives should be content with the minority status begin affirmed for us by many walking in the wide gate.

“If you truly believe that helping the SOCIALIST Obama stay in office is a bad thing, then why would you support a party that would replace him with another SOCIALIST (Romney)?”

I don’t particularly support the party and I don’t particularly support Romney: I’m simply going to vote for him because voting for Romney is the ONLY thing I can personally do to help prevent Obama from staying in office four more years, and having carefully studied what Obama’s been doing for the past four years, as bad as Romney MAY be, I know for certain that Obama is truly 1000 times worse. So for me, it’s not really even a lesser of two slightly different evils, it’s the difference between a little evil and one that is 1000 times MORE evil.

The bottom line is that money talks and bullshit walks. The Republican Party elite represents really big money, and you and I are peasants. You and I will ALWAYS be peasants! You and I will NEVER have any real influence on anything that matters big-picture-wise. I accept that. I don’t think you do. As a consequence of that acceptance I choose not to waste my time and energy tilting at windmills, particularly ones so large that I can’t even see how big they are. Instead, I choose to take POSITIVE actions to make things better, even if those POSITIVE actions are incredibly tiny. At least they are positive actions and not futile actions.

Not voting because my ideal candidate didn’t win (they didn’t), or voting for some third-party peasant like myself as a protest is not a positive action. It’s an action of frustration and futility. It’s tilting at windmills.

Thank you for that post. Many here would pretend that principle will somehow “spare” them...placing them “above” the consequences.

At least with Romney...and a Congress We the People force to answer to us, have a HOPE of Constitutional Restoration through the ballot box.

The ideological selfishness many display has a very real potential for rendering such Constitutional Restoration only through the cartridge box.....thereby depriving their countrymen of HOPE and POSSIBILITY.

If it does come to the cartridge box...each and every one of us posting here..may well already have their name on a list for the midnight knock ....with which Obama will attempt to precede the inevitable.

This is not pride, this is building credibility for 2016.

At that time when we declare that the party nominate a conservative “or else”, We will be believed. Y’all will be taken for granted as usual.

Somehow I knew you'd be on other threads lying about this. That is NOT what Ryan said. I don't understand how you can call yourself a Christian and yet knowingly lie about another Christian? Is it an "end justifies the means" mentality?
