All that support we gave them (setting a one-day sales record) and this is how they repay us? Caving in so they could open a single store in Chicago.
Via Washington Times:
Chick-fil-A stopped funding traditional-marriage groups in an effort to open a new Chicago restaurant, but the company initially kept quiet about the decision, prompting gay rights groups to speculate that the company feared a backlash from conservative customers.
The Christian-rooted fast food restaurant agreed to stop funding groups such as Focus on the Family that oppose same-sex marriage in a meeting with the Chicago politician who had been blocking the companys move there. Chick-fil-A wrote a letter to Alderman Joe Moreno affirming this, according to his spokesman, Matt Bailey, but the company initially wouldnt allow his office to release the letter to the public. Three weeks later they relented.
There was concern from them, said Anthony Martinez, executive director for the Civil Rights Agenda, the Illinois lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender group that negotiated with both Chick-fil-A and the alderman to stop funding for so-called anti-gay groups. They really didnt want to announce it, really, but, of course, the alderman needed to clarify why he was changing his stance on them opening a restaurant within his ward.
Chick-fil-A did not returns requests for comment, and has previously said it will not discuss the issue with the media.
Mr. Martinez said Chick-fil-A told the alderman they will no longer fund groups that support traditional marriage through their charity arm, the WinShape Foundation, and will instead use that money toward educational programs and food donations.
The WinShape Foundations is now taking a much closer look at the organizations it considers helping, and in that process will remain true to its stated philosophy of not supporting organizations with political agendas, Chick-fil-A wrote in the letter.
Touche, Dan Cathy. Every intelligent person knows that marriage isn't a "political agenda."
What the sodomites are angry about are the "marriage seminars" that WinShape sponsors. Now, they'll think that WinShape doesn't sponsor these anymore.
What loons.
And above it all, remember that Romney, when asked where he stood on Chick-fil-A’s statement supporting marriage, said, “That not part of my campaign.”
Way to go, Mittens.
I humbly accept your award.
Bottom line, their statement is too ambiguous. We should ask to see what groups their organization is donating to now. Are they the same groups that the homosexual lobby was complaining about or have those been dropped from the list?
They didn't quash anything. Chick Fil-A chose to cave to sodomites, and that's the disgrace.
Hope I don't have to give up their chocolate chip cookies.
And they have been so sneaky about it none of the news channels are even covering it, not even Fox News. Maybe I’ll write Huckabee and asked him did they cave. I’ll tell him if they did, all Christians should boycott Chick Fil-A, because they have made a mockery not only out of his support but the support that thousands and thousands gave them a month ago.
Bait and switch, don’t believe the reporting its meant to piss you off.
Cathy will continue to support who ever he wants FUChicago
I bet the executives, including Kathy Truett, will step up their donations.
Thanks for the link.
Mine too.
Due to posting constraints, could not post the entire title which read "Will no longer fund Traditional Marriage Groups. Apologies for any confusion.
The people screaming LOON and worse at fellow Freepers on this thread are, I suspect, the very same people who contend that Mitt Romney is winning this election by a landslide.
If even Freepers fall victim to media disinformation so easily, there’s no hope left other than for Jesus pulling the plug soon.
They were clear that they are pro-family.
Evil people are spinning their response to mean that they are no longer anti-gay.
You’re free to believe what you want, of course. But Chick-fil-A has remained true to their convictions, and will continue to support pro-family, pro-marriage causes.

May you learn from your hasty judgments. Please. We FReepers need to be wiser than the gay/Chicago/MSM smear campaigners.
It’s a business. It’s called $$$.
Reality sucks.
Alternatively you wont see one place block them FOR this decision.
Looks like you were right. I was “gullible”. I didn’t even bother to see who wrote the piece of garbage claiming CFA stopped donations. It wouldn’t have surprised me in the least if CFA had backed down. Refreshing that they didn’t.
Thanks, Albie.
I sincerely mean no disrespect toward you personally. We’re on the same side, concerned about our nation and its people. So thank you for your gracious reply to my frantic comments.
Yes, I’m aware of that. I thought it was pretty obvious.
