CHICAGO (BHN) - In a city already plagued by runaway crime, corruption, and years of liberal mismanagement, Chicago's Teacher's Union has struck that city after refusing an offer for a 16% pay increase.
Chicago's teachers are already among the highest paid in the country, averaging over $76K a year before benefits. Despite the extravagant pay, Chicago kids test among the lowest in the country, leading many to question why the city doesn't fire the greedy "educators" and bring in real ones.
Union president Karen "The Hut" Lewis, defended her union's decision to strike, saying, "Yo, give us the [f-ng] money or little Johnny will be 25 before he graduates, [b-es]."
Anyone want to lay odds on who wins the strike?
Remember when you bet that these are all Obama voters, Mostly Democrats who voted for Rahm.
I wish a “Reagan” could be pulled on these losers—like the air traffic controllers.
At least she was skinnier than most striking Chicago teachers, otherwise the pole would have snapped before she fell on her butt! I hope someone held her beer, so it didn’t get spilled.
85% of their fourth graders are not up to grade level in either language or math skills.
Obama will ride his black horse to the rescue of his little piggies.
I went to a bar today to have a soda and their 50cents yummy tacos. The strike came up and I couldn’t believe what the common people at the bar said. They were commiserating with the teachers because, “after all it is really expensive to live in Chicago”. I can’t believe the American public anymore!
We need to make Cook County, the District of Columbia, Boulder County in Colorado and Travis County in Texas their on ONE State.
There is nothing that says we cannot.
All the crazies in one little state and we can ignore.
Don’t forget to toss in the entire city of San Francisco.
This is directly tied to the vicious cycle of pensions, teacher union campaign donations, compliant pols, higher teacher wages, strike or threat of strike, higher taxes, more burden on an already-broke pension plan.....rinse, repeat.
Rahm never passes up an opportunity to take advantage of a crisis. In this case, the ILL-ANNOY Republicans are missing that chance to make a difference.
For those who think this is JUST a Chicago problem, think again. The "solutions" will be borne on the backs of all of us. Higher teacher pay now means quicker bankruptcy of the state.
What was it that Rahm Emanuel said, “never let a crisis go to waste”? I’m going to see how he spins this one.
Here’s a way to prove they’re underpaid: fire them all and then advertise their jobs at a 10% pay cut. If no one applies for the open positions, then hire all the union teachers back and meet their demands. But if they get applications . . .
Oh, I’ve never seen that Animal Farm illustration, but it’s really, really fine!
I heard this union fool on the radio earlier. She was talking about crime and blah, blah, blah. Buch of damn nonsense.
The folk of Chicago voted for "the ballerina"knowing full well who and what he is. They also voted for each and every crook, stand behind their school boards, their union thug teacher's leaders, thus, in my opinion, they all deserve it and may they live "happily ever after."
The only ones I do feel sorry for is another generation of children deprived of a decent education but they already weren't getting one nor have any number of children in Chicago and all other Big Blue Cities around the country.
The only ones who gain from this scam are liberals, who continue to get elected by the ignorant morons who "graduate" year in and year turned out from the U. S. public education system, so they will keep the scam going on and on - on purpose.
I predict that this strike will get real ugly real fast.
Then I expect owebama to come to the rescue with some sort of “bail-out” to “save the teachers” to make him think he looks good.
After all, we NEED teachers like the one who responded “I teaches English.”
Teachers in the City are not as well paid as those in many of the suburbs. Nor do they have it as easy considering the lack of proper families to back the students.
Looks like Emanual provoked this strike for some reason, by his ham-handed attempt to extend the school day.
