After more than a century the Battle of the Alamo still raging, but instead of Mexicans and Texan settlers this time its Fox News and the Democrats new Latino star, San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro.
A Fox News web site article draws ties between Castro and his mother, a member of the La Raza Unida, a radical movement that defended the civil rights of Mexican-Americans in Texas who apparently hates the Alamo.
The article cites a 2010 New York Times Magazine interview with Castro and his mother, who Castro said is his inspiration.
In the article San Antonio native Rosie Castro bashed the Alamo, a longstanding symbol of American courage to many Texans and a tourist hotspot.
Heres Rosie Castros quote in full:
They used to take us there when we were schoolchildren, Rosie Castro told The New York Times Magazine. They told us how glorious that battle was. When I grew up I learned that the heroes of the Alamo were a bunch of drunks and crooks and slaveholding imperialists who conquered land that didnt belong to them. But as a little girl I got the message we were losers. I can truly say that I hate that place and everything it stands for.
In a tweet Washington Posts The Fix reporter Chris Cillizza quoted Julián Castro as saying, We grew up in a political household but we did not like it.

The Times reported that Castro, the keynote speaker at this years Democratic National Convention and the grandson of a Mexican immigrant, originally had trouble speaking Spanish.
The article stated that the Hispanic mayors mother, Rosie Castro, always spoke English in the home and that he never learned speaking Spanish while growing up, learning Latin and Japanese instead."......
Julian Castro the next America hating Obama
>implying Mexicans weren’t hard drinkers that took land that didn’t belong to them.
This woman is garbage. The left wing adores tyranny and hates those that stand up to it.
Julian Castro and his Mother should be audited by the IRS. When US haters begin spewing their venom, usually they are getting arrogant because they have a source of money that insulates them from being cut off. Then again, the IRS is just another arm of the Democratic Party.
"Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible."
Contrast this with Fidel and Raul Castro, the cuban duo. Both of these dictators speak fluent English. However, whenever interviewed by Anglos, they have a translator there to translate to Spanish— so they have more time to think up a clever commie retort.
Have always wanted to be somewhere Fidel was and shout something like— “lookout for the wet floor there, you’ll trip” and film/watch the response.
The fact these twin nightmares have to take Spanish to get their “cred” is silly enough. Proving it isn’t about anything other than machine racist politics.
The people in Texas rose up against the dictatorship.
If the Mexican landholders had behaved themselves none of that would have happened.
She’s a member of La Raza which says it all.
She needs to return to Mexico; but she won’t because she is living off of the taxpayers back.
If she likes Mexico so much, she can always go home.
So, my specialty in life has been an in depth study of the Alamo. She is right, in that some who died at the Alamo were crooks, liars, corrupt and drunks. Not all of them. Jim Bowie in his diary made fun of the Mexican tavern ladies, and his purpose in life was to see how many he could take to bed. But William Travis, Col. Fanning, proper Baptists, had a far different concept of Freedom and Liberty. When I visit the Alamo, and listen to the guides, they have a TOUGH time articulating and separateing the RACES from the POLICIES. Kind of like today. So when the guides talk about Mexicans, he really should use the term tyrants, ..men sent to use the sword to force Texians to comply with a Constitution that was never ratified, and neither was their any representation on their behalf about the laws that were being enforced. Some Mexicans, like Lorenzo de Zavala, were freedom loving Mexicans who turned sides and became the 1st Vice President of Texas. It really is difficult to teach history and help people understand the POLICIES and ideologies that people were willing to fight for. It wasn’t JUST again the people who ate tortillas and spoke Spanish. She is very ignorant, and her well educated son needs to enroll her in a class on Civics 101 at the San Antonio College nearby.
Many who fought at the Alamo were Latinos! they were fighting the tyranny of Gen. Santa Ana under a flag that was a Mexican Tri-color with the date 1824—they wanted to return to the Mexican Constitution of 1824 that Santa Ana had shredded—after swearing he would uphold it.
Wow! Texas will not go for the Democrats in November now. (/sarc.)
Don’t mess with Texas......
Well, it's rather pointless to conquer land that already belongs to you.
One of those was Juan Seguin, who immediately joined the fight for Texas Independence.
