I feel like I ought to start out each of my articles anymore with a disclaimer, or caveat saying something along the lines of WARNING: The contents of this article are to be considered null and void in the event of a Reichstag Fire, false flag event, and/or an invasion by Russian Spetsnaz in collusion with Northcom,or words to that effect.
My intent is not to make light of such concerns, as God knows we have reason enough to be more than a bit edgy these dayswhat with the Patriot Act, NDAA, the torrent of Obama EOs (Executive Orders), various government agencies stockpiling millions of rounds of ammo, and other such things.
Personally, I am what you might call a cynical optimistI hope for the best, but plan for the worst. I keep myself open to the idea that the US can peacefully pull itself out of the colossal mess that it is currently mired inbut I have enough guns, ammo, freeze dried food and whatnot to open a small survivalist store.
Be that as it maythe main topic that I wish to address in this article is my decision to back the Romney/Ryan ticket, and the fallout from that. Contrary to what some of you may think, I have not rushed off and enlisted in the Dark Side. I am as opposed to the Big Bank/ Big Corporation/Big Government/Big War cabal as ever...

I swore after 2008 I would never do that again. It is just wrong, HOPING so intensely that the top of the ticket will DIE the day after inauguration.
“Spot on. The GOP owns us in exactly the same way the DNC owns the black voter. Fear keeps us in line and securely on the plantation. They can ignore us, throw us a bone or two in the platform (which they promptly say theyll ignore), and well crawl over broken glass, hot coals, and a minefield to vote for whatever liberal the GOP picks. While we live in fear, well remain powerless and praying for some great conservative hero to save us - next election.”
I’d read a few posts on this thread and eagerly awaiting reading it.
That was a great post. Thanks for it.
Yes, if Obama wins then you will be the deciding (non-)vote. It's only those who don't vote who are responsible for this country's ills. Those who vote have no responsibility for how things work out.
Our country is at stake, It sounds like we must all pray for you to do the *right* thing, Gilb so that doesn't happen. You are more important than Romney in this.
Maybe this will help:
“Whats with all this slave thought, slave argument, plantation logic nonsense some anti-Romney FReepers keep throwing around? Its demeaning and Im assuming intended to be provocative. Are you capable of making your argument without that type of language?”
Provocative? Naaah. Not by FR standards.
Right or wrong it's delusional.
How about Ryan and company supporting and voting for a bill with automatic military spending cuts ($600B) then later claiming that not only he is against those cuts he voted for (Republican House passed it) but that it will destroy our military, and he was COUNTING ON Democrats being willing to support social spending cuts (another $600B) to replace those same military cuts a year later?
If you believe that.....
Talking smack to the mods will definitely get you a one way trip to zot-land.
The mods are usually pretty good about cutting slack so long as you stick within the rules. I feel sorry for them trying to rein in this raucous bunch.
Recently I asked you how we can tell the difference between honest Freepers and covert Obama activists. You answer was essentially that this age of deception rules the day.
But here’s a more specific question you don’t have to avoid: What do you think the breakdown is, more or less, of the two groups? Of the hardcore anti-Romney crowd, what percent do you think are sincere conservative posters vs what percent are leftists pretenders who know they can’t advance marxism on its own nonexistent merits?
“I do believe in repentance if there is evidence and not just words.”
You hit the nail on the head. I’m not going to vote for or support a candidate whose RECORD shows him to be both anti-gun and pro-abortion.
I’m a Christian. I believe in redemption. And I dearly hope that willard has had an epiphany and seen the light, but without actions to match the words......
Now that we’re faced with a second Obama term multiplied by Marx to the Stalinth power, the only thing you risk in voting for Romney is your pride.
Huh?
“Barbarians and cultists are all alike ~ how can anyone vote for either of these guys. I am embarrassed to know so terribly many people who are not at all bothered by these things.”
The speed with which so many “conservatives” are running to embrace a candidate who is demonstrably not a conservative is a little frightening in truth. It’s like there is no principle or moral standard worth standing for and saying: “here is the line that I simply don’t cross.” Or worse bit’s a case of “I see the line, but I’m going to dash across it anyway because the other guy is nasty and the ends justify any means.”
It’s just moral relativism writ very large.
That Solzhenitsyn quote is one of my favorites. It is instructive for what might come to us.
“Better look again, Im all over this thread.”
You’re a lot of things...a drive by poster is not one of them.
There’s no way to tell except by long-term observation of posting style. And given this is the internet - anonymous handles makes it easy to deceive.
As far as breakdowns of the two groups - on this board? I have no idea. You got disgruntled Libertarian Ron Paul worshippers tossed into this mix as well, some of whom will vote for Obama before Romney anyway (they did in 2008).
I do know that JimRob made it pretty clear that Conservatism and Christian faith is the intent and purpose of this board, and that supporting Romney is NOT one of the things he, or this board was going to support. I imagine there are a lot of us at FR who are not GOP plantation slaves who are sincere Conservatives, but I’ll guess that the vocal party hacks outnumber us in vitriol and insistence.
That Obama and Romney have operatives prowling on social media and forum boards is not news. In fact, it is the new Precinct Captain Operation playbook. Lots of wolves in sheep’s clothing these days. On Talk Radio they usually begin by saying “I’ve been a Conservative for 20 some odd years and I’m supporting the President” or some such crap.
I’m not one of those. I have a long history on Conservative/prep boards and well as my own blog. I’m if anything, I’m consistent on standing for what I believe in and I do not waver. Plus I frankly do not care what others think, either of me or what I post. I speak what I believe plainly and without apology.
That said, I can only speak for myself and those I know who share my values and sentiments; namely devout Conservative Christians who put their faith and God before anything else’. How many of us that makes here at FR - I do not know.
But if I had to guess, - I think many are more afraid of Obama than they are of God, which would explain the zeitgeist mantra that if we do not vote for Romney - we’re traitors and should be hanged or shot, by the accords of some posting here.
“Yes, in fact I do believe it more possible that Mitt would yield to pressure from the Tea Parties than that Obama would.”
What leads you to that conclusion? I assume that willard will do everything he can to consolidate power if he is elected, and the TEA party is a threat. Why would he not act to marginalize them? Afterall, he will have demonstrated that he can win an election without them.
If you believe that....
dang dude, dont dis the economic savior and his used car salesman boss...
Conservatives having principles left that they have not sacrificed on the altar of political expediency.
We can survive Obama. We can't survive a conservative electorate that is no longer conservative.
Whatever.
