One of the most deplorable habits still spreading amongst Canadian liberals seems to be anti-Americanism. The saddest thing about those who spout anti-Americanism is that their views aren't rebellious, original, or remotely unique. In fact, their views only exhibit their insurmountable ignorance and the nonsensical and hypocritical nature of their conformity. Canadians who proudly display their anti-Americanism in public and in private conversations haven't only failed at making themselves look intelligent, they've failed to provoke anything but laughter and ridicule from rational Canadians. The nature of anti-Americanism in Canada has no roots in logic, nor does it have any place in a country that's culture, military, and economy depend so strongly on decisions that are made south of our border.
What we're talking about here isn't mere anti-Bush or anti-war sentiment. What we're talking about is relentless, abrasive, and acerbic stereotypes being spewed from the mouths of ordinary (mostly liberal) Canadians on a regular basis, in conversations, on television, and in literature.

Where are you from? My Mother is from St Michael's on Wyre between Blackpool and Lancaster.
I know the only reason FReepers tend to dislike the U.K. is due to historical grievance, believe me whenever our god king Barak Hussein Ubama II insults our old Union, they are quick to defend it.
Anglophobia? Here? I'm surprised, but then I haven't paid close attention.Yes,we speak disparagingly about your health system and we're doing our best to avoid going down the same path but that doesn't result in hatred.Count me as a huge fan of Britain.Count me as a huge admirer of Churchill,Thatcher and Nigel Farage (among others).
Anti-American Canadians might be a special category, because of the proximity and closeness in culture and speech of Canadians to Americans (sorry anti-American Canadians, it's real close). However, on a number of trips to Canada (including one to Alberta last year), my wife and I have found Canadians to be very nice people. In one situation, as we were returning to our car after visiting a Canadian monument in southern Alberta, we noticed a man standing in back of our car staring at it. He spoke "from Wisconsin, eh!" We said ah yes, not quite knowing what to expect. The very friendly man then proceded to talk our heads off about how much he liked the U.S. So gross generalizations are pointless. Of course there are many obnoxious, stupid Americans. Many of them will gathering next week in N.Carolina. Every country has them. Does no good to get excited because some Canadian leftists, like all leftists, don't like us. Tough toenails.
I worked for years with a British woman who married an American and had settled here.We got on great but she'd jokingly call me "bogg hopper" and I'd jokingly call her "former Colonial oppressor".
I like Canada on my trips there, and I’m sure most Canadians love their country. Otherwise we’d be reading about the throngs of Canadians trying to get into the U.S. instead of Mexicans. But I know a guy who emigrated from Canada because he said the opportunities for success were far greater in the U.S. than in his native country. He was very successful in his career in sales in America.
The Queebs have always hated us.
Florida is our vacation destination but Arizona is a very popular spot for “snowbirds”, retirees who spend winters in the south and summers back here.
I visited Alberta a year ago, they love Americans there.
Nah, they're just irritated because some Brit put malt vinegar on their chips er french fries when they weren't looking. Somebody like my wife who was born and raised in Norwich. Just kidding. I doubt most of the people making the anti-Brit statements actually hate the British. Most people on this forum, like me, admire Churchill and Thatcher too much. Besides, my wife would beat the crap out of me if I took down her little Union Jack pennants that she put among her flowers in the front yard.
You go to Fort Lauderdale in late December and you suddenly think you’re in Quebec, everybody on the beach was speaking French.
Haha. That’s hilarious.
“The Queebs have always hated us.”
They hate Canadians too! Forgive them, they are French.
Canadian liberals are just like your American ones, but its just that they don’t need to pretend to actually like America...
Never!
Canada has been the “not-United States” since 1776.
Awe Jeze. I hope they didn’t kill Kenny again?
Take off aye!
As an ex-Canuckistani from BC, the author hit it out the ballpark.
When I was in high school, the only thing we were taught is how evil America was.
This from a country who gets their patriotic fervor from a beer commercial (Molson). My favorite moment back in school was “if we are part of the Commonwealth, then why do we have to put French as the official language?”
“But I know a guy who emigrated from Canada because he said the opportunities for success were far greater in the U.S. than in his native country. He was very successful in his career in sales in America.”
You were describing me? Born in Sask, schooled in Vancouver, emigrated offcially in 2006 officially after a sports scholarship from UW was offered.
I almost cried when I went to 7-11 and any store in America were selling beer. In BC, the govt controls both liquor sales and car insurance. In California, there are 5000 car insurance companies and in BC, the cheapest you can get from the govt was $90/month....I am not kidding.
So whomever fool or idiot tells you that canadian healthcare is free, it’s not true...you pay a monthly premium or you head to jail. I escaped obamacare now I am knee-deep in this sh*t in 2014.
