An Ex-Democrat Posts an Open Letter to the GOP Tampa Convention Delegates Regarding Sarah Palin

This is an open letter to all RNC delegates attending the GOP convention in Tampa next week. This was part of a campaign called The Goliath Project where almost half of the delegates were recently mailed a copy of this posted letter and another letter written by another great patriot, Brian of Berkeley. As the name of the project implies, we understand that the odds are great against taking down the giant Republican machine with our little slingshot and stones. But we cannot stop trying to defeat the giants, for they will surely win.

If you know a delegate to the GOP Tampa convention, PLEASE pass this on to them. If you are a delegate, I ask you to take this letter into your heart. Dear Delegate and Fellow American,

I am writing to you because I know this election will determine whether America survives or not. This election is about making sure Barack Obama does not get elected to a second term, but it is also about so much more than that.

I was a Democrat for 32 years. Four years ago I left the Democrat Party and I joined the Republicans because of one woman…Sarah Palin. After watching the Left lie, attack and destroy Hillary Clinton in order install Barack Obama as president, I was shocked and shaken from my liberal Democrat prison that held me for 32 years where so many, still unbeknownst to them, are being held captive. I saw everything that I had once believed was the truth (because I was told it was the truth) come crumbling down because the lies, distortions and manipulations from the Left and their accomplices, the liberal media, no longer had power over me. I was awake and free for the first time in my life. And I vowed then that I would never allow a party or group to dictate to me how I would feel or what I would believe EVER again. I struck out on my own in search of the truth so I could decide, through exhaustive research and a free mind and heart to think for myself, what was true and what was not. I had the rare opportunity to be completely unshackled from the influence of my lying and manipulative captors in order to freely seek the wisdom and truth that only God could provide. I prayed long and hard to be guided to the truth.

One morning in October 2008 I watched John McCain introduce his vice presidential running mate. I had never heard of Sarah Palin, but I immediately sensed there was something different about her. As I listened to her words, tears flowed down my cheeks. For the first time I felt I was hearing a politician who had the courage to tell the truth. The more I knew about her and the more I heard from her, the more I knew in my heart that God sent this special woman to help save America from her enemies and to point her people in a different direction. She showed us how to act with integrity and grace. She also showed us how to fight back against lies, distortions and manipulations by showing us her steel-strength courage. With the power of truth she faced and fought incredible obstacles and enemies, including Democrats, entrenched establishment Republicans and the media, all at the same time. Her strong principles, integrity and values could not be matched by anyone. For many seeking the truth she became a beacon of light and an embodiment of that for which we all strive to be.

In a time when we are inundated with deliberately inaccurate information, how do we know what is or isn’t true? We need a guide. Someone we trust and admire. Someone we know has the same values and faith as us, and who lives those values and their faith every day. In the same way ancient mariners trusted in the stars to guide their boats, we can trust in the stars in our own lives. When times are tough and our seas are storm-tossed, it is to the North Stars we turn. They are the people we trust and admire and who speak to the fixed truth in our hearts. They are the ones we know won’t steer us wrong. Whose spirit reminds us where we came from, where we need to go, and who we want to be. Our North Stars are always there to guide us and show us what is true and what is not. Just like the actual North Star, the North Stars in our lives are fixed points we depend on to always help us get our bearings when we get lost, and they give us the confidence to move further. Their leadership by example inspires us to explore all of our possibilities and for us to reach for the stars. It is no coincidence that Sarah Palin showed up when she did. The polar rising of this phenomenal woman is reflected in the flag of her state of Alaska. It shows us the Big Dipper with the North Star sitting as the highest star in the sky, a star that shines brightest and is there to bring us home. Sarah is here to remind us of our past as a nation and our feelings about ourselves as a people. She reminds us of the possibilities for us as individuals and as a nation. She reminds us of our love of country, but most of all she reminds us of our love of God. Sarah Palin is here to remind us of our great past and to guide us to our even greater future. Sarah Palin is my North Star. Sarah Palin is America’s North Star.

In a world where we are constantly bombarded with lies and half-truths, it’s no wonder that most of us have a hard time distinguishing between what is or isn’t true. The mainstream media broadcasts gross inaccuracies, reporting as fact things we know are not true. Decisions about what is or isn’t news are made by biased producers and editors. We only see what they want us to see. Politicians say one thing and do another. They tell us what they think we want to hear, and the first chance they get they sell us out for their own self interest. They are always hiding something about themselves or their beliefs, pulling the proverbial wool over our eyes. Who do we trust? How do we judge what is true and what isn’t?

We have to go inside our hearts and decide there what is true and what is not. We must match a person’s actions with words and we must look to uncover what may be being hidden from us. When people hear Sarah Palin speak they sense she has nothing to hide. Her actions always match her words. With every word she reveals exactly who she is and what she believes, and that is what provokes her enemies. People who listen to her feel something they have never felt in regard to a politician….trust. When Sarah’s light of truth shines on politicians, they are exposed. Those who are looking out for themselves and their buddies in special interest groups are shown to be who they really are – liars and opportunists who care nothing for the people who elected them. Her proven courage and ability to expose corruption and cronyism is precisely the reason she has made so many enemies on both sides of the aisle. Sarah’s honesty, strength, integrity, and ability to connect with the average American is a threat to all of what these corrupt politicians and their cronies hold dear. And why does Sarah Palin connect with so many Americans?

She is strong. We watch as the frothing-at-the-mouth Left, and sometimes Right, attack her daily, and yet somehow she handles those attacks with grace, poise, and strength of character.

She is honest. She is condemned for her candidness and honesty, but Americans want and need to be told the truth. She is not afraid to speak out and “tell truth to power.” She never backs down, even when the attacks are relentlessly vicious, and even when her family is victimized. She loves America. We love America. We forgot how much we loved America until Sarah Palin reminded us. She reminds us all of the time why we should be proud of America, of being an American. When was the last time a politician made us feel proud of our country?

She loves God. We love God. Many of us forgot how much we loved God and how important God is in our lives until Sarah Palin’s faith invigorated us, and as a result, many have developed a greater faith. This strong, forthright America-loving woman derives her strength from God and answers only to Him.

Four years ago I prayed to be unshackled from anything other than the truth, and my prayers were answered.

Delegate, I am asking you at this time to ask God to go inside to the deepest and truest parts of yourself, where love and truth reside, to unshackle your heart and soul from anything but the truth. And then ask that you be given the courage and conviction to stand up and fight for that truth. Many peoples’ hearts and minds have been unshackled and they are being awakened to the truth. When looking inside, millions of Americans’ hearts have told them to look up into the sky. For it is there that the answers lie to what direction we need to go so that we will be found again. With one voice we are asking you to look up at the stars, see the truth and take up the fight to right America’s ship. Delegate, America desperately needs you in her greatest hour of need. Before it is too late, we have the chance to turn America’s ship around. We, as a nation, have become lost. But there is good news. We have been sent from the direction of North a great warrior and fighter for truth to point the way for us and lead us in another direction. Are we going to finally look up at the stars and get our bearings again? Are we going to gaze our eyes on that fixed Great North Star in order to turn America’s ship toward home, or are we going to continue to keep our heads bowed down with our eyes focused on our broken compasses and continue to sail off into the lost darkness hoping we are going in the right direction? Delegate, you have a rare opportunity not only to change the direction of America’s ship, but an opportunity to change the direction of the world.

Just as America looks back with gratitude and awe of the courage of a small group of state delegates in July 1776 who stood up for God’s truth against the tyranny of the British crown and the mightiest military power on earth, I believe Americans in the future will look back to August 2012 with the same extreme gratitude and awe of courage it took a small group of state delegates who stood up against the tyranny and corrupt power of the political establishment machine to nominate someone who stood for all things that once made America great and would lead her people to be free and great once again. It is now at the moment of truth that we ask you to nominate TRUTH. We ask you to nominate Governor Sarah Palin.

Delegate, I thank you for consideration, and most of all, I thank you for your courage and bravery in the coming weeks. The prayers of many are with you.

Finally seeing the light is a life changing event for life-long Democrats. They can’t believe how evil the media is, they sense their own infallibility, they will lose many life-long friends whom they try to enlighten...and they won’t care because the truth does, indeed, set you free.

Thank you for posting. It was the same for me. Lifelong democrat, Hillary supporter. I was also acitve duty military at the time. I didn’t feel the Republican Party spoke for me. Then I saw what Democrats did to Hillary. When Sarah Palin walked on that stage, I had tears streaming down my face as well. When I researched about Down children and realized how many were aborted, I was shocked. Then Sarah said, “Who am I to question God’s idea of perfection?” I changed parties right then and there and have never gone back. Establishment Republicans are making a mistake. She needs to speak. She speaks for all those women (and men) who felt they never had a voice. She speaks for the every day man and woman who went to different schools trying to find themselves and pay their way. She speaks for Moms, Military, and true, blue Americans!!

Right now, RNC inc (trademark pending) is running the show. They know how much we dislike Obama and that we have no place to go. They rigged the game, they have the money, and the own the machine. Heck, they just voted down closing their primaries to only GOP voters.

This is beyond Palin. If you want a conservative in the future it will have to be a “long march”. You’ll have to do lots and lots of “small ball” stuff. Lots of blocking and tackling.

We’ve taken a few steps, got a few victories and a few defeats.

Chairman Reince Priebus said on Mark Levin last night that she was invited to speak in prime time but said she declined citing other commitments. It would be great to hear the other side of that story.

At this stage of the game, I just don’t trust the establishment in what they say.

Even Levin wasn’t buying it.

There was an awful lot of hemmin’ and hawin’ when Priebus spoke. It was his opportunity to tell the truth, something that all people who are part of the Republican political scene have trouble doing, particularly where Palin is concerned. Her mere absence from the podium speaks volumes and increases the gulf between the RINOS who wish to remake the party and many of the rest of us. Perhaps this is another example of what she was alluding to when she spoke of “taking one for the team” last night on Greta.

The Romney/Ryan ticket will have my vote because I want Obama and his crew out of the White House but they will not have my support or my money.

You are a troll. This is your ONLY post here, EVER! I never got any communication from Sarah Palin asking to be nominated.

She chose not to enter the primary. My state voted for Mitt Romney in the Presidential Preference Primary and that is who I will be voting for in accordance with being true to the great state of Arizona.

He wasn’t my first choice, but as of now he is the ONLY choice, and your goal, troll, is to disrupt the convention and re-elect the communist.

All that has to happen is for all to stick with Palin out in the local, state legislature races and federal congressional races for a few more election cycles until-most importantly- the state legislatures- and then DC has been completely TeaPartied.

Sarah Palin spoke here in Las Vegas in her run with McCain, it was hot that day, 105 or 106, and people were lined up for three blocks to get in to hear her. She is made of the stuff that our Fore Fathers espoused. It is a crime that she is not going to speak at the Republican Convention, but not surprising that she would not want to step into that Snake Pit.The Republican National Committee has never done a thing for her, if fact they did everything they could to bury her.I think she may appear in some other capacity one day.

Lifelong Dem here til 2008. Watching that debate, I saw what an idiot Gore was and what a real person GWB was. It didn’t even matter if I agreed with everything, but I wanted someone who knew what he thought and had passion about it. Then when Sarah hit the scene, I was absolutely blown away. Get over yourself. I'm from Wisconsin and this man is one of the most intelligent, articulate conservatives around. He has won 7 times in a very democratic district. 2008 - Obama won in his district (took WI also) by 14 points, and dear sir, Paul Ryan WON HIS district with 63% of the vote.

Now you can take THAT to the bank. He garners votes from Dems. Don't doubt him. He is sincere and NO one’s puppet.
