The cultural revolution and the impact of women
Myself | 08/12/2012 | Texianne1

This is my first post. I have lived in a (now) very big city for 50+ years. Adult behavior is different now than what I remember. I recall the behavior of the adults from my childhood to be very measured, and predictable. They were always gracious, and once they gave their word, they kept it.

I think the behavior of most men has not changed all that much. They seem to display the same measured, accountable behavior. However, generally, many of the women are very different.

Here is an example. Suppose that a very small group of men in our society decide to marry their dogs. I can foresee many older women saying "Oh, isn't that great. I just love dogs. What a wonderful idea" so that they can smugly say to themselves "I am so cool". But there won't be any reflection as to how this lack of admonishment will effect younger women, who don't want men to marry their dogs, but to marry them.

Do you have any suggestions as to how we can bring back the sense of the need of admonishment to the older generation (so that they can provide it)?

Loving, and Being Loved
These are Acts of Gratitude and Humility

Traits in declining supply with
the Current crop of Youths

I would cultivate these two Virtues

Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues,
but the parent of all others.
Cicero

Humility is the foundation of all the other virtues hence,
in the soul in which this virtue does not exist
there cannot be any other virtue except in mere appearance.
St. Augustine

Its too late... this thing that has been set in motion by the iconoclasts and misfits has to run its course.

All I can say is take comfort in the knowledge that at some point the natural order will reassert itself. And it will, you can be sure.

the men are not measured and predictable, where did you get that idea? they are interested in intercourse with anything that moves and don’t care who they hurt

Not necessarily true. For example there’s a kind of woman no man wants to have intercourse with.

Year ago, my husband told me that he was comfortable with the fact that he couldn’t force another person to be a good person. So he focuses his attention on himself. “All I can do is set an example.”

I’ve learned that this was a wise move and I try to do the same thing.

Just set the example.

I don’t know where to start, so I guess I’ll start with your assumption about men. Where the Hell did you come up with the idea that men haven’t changed much? From what I’ve seen, the difference between men in my parents generation (born early 1920’s) and my son’s generation (born early 1990’s) is night and day. Not all of it bad mind you. My parents generation was downright silly when it came to sex and marriage, never even mentioning that married people did it.

I’m going to presume that your dog thing was a crude metaphor for gay marriage, and you’re trying to say that in your experience, the women you have observed have been supportive of gay marriage? If that’s the case, the women aren’t all wrong. Even if gay marriage was to be actually criminalized, I doubt any young woman in her right mind would want to marry a man who even harbored the thought of marrying a man.

Which is why I personally prefer homosexuality in the closet, but not totally repressed. In societies where homosexuality is strictly forbidden, even in private, you always have poor saps unhappily married to lesbians who’re pretending to be straight to save their skin, or unhappily married women who’re married to men who’re only pretending to like women to save theirs.

Plenty of blame to go around for both sexes IMHO.
Men don’t act like men anymore, being fearful of both responsibility and accountability.

Women are just as bad, expecting perfection from their men, but constantly redefining what that perfection means.

Oh, sure there are plenty of examples of men and woman who behave correctly even though all of popular culture encourages them to behave differently.

I do know one thing, if our men (a growing number of men from the West) don’t start acting like men again, they will eventually be subjugated by men from other (primarily Asia) cultures who do.

As for our women, they had better start supporting our men again instead of constantly undermining them, be it from infantilizing them or by becoming a shrew. If our women don’t recognize this soon, they might not like the version of man who replaces the current western model.

I sure could have used those quotes recently. Got into a tiff with my 24 year old niece (I’m 30 years senior). She agreed to help me at a garage sale when my best friend had an emergency. She never showed. An hour into my sale, I called and got no answer; eventually I got her on the phone and she was very nonchalant; no apology. She said she’d come over...meanwhile, I really needed the help.

The whole day she spent texting and reading her phone. I asked her why the under 25 crowd seems to think it’s okay to sit with a person and proceed to ignore them. She looked incredulous and said she had no idea what I was talking about; said she had been talking to me (well, she did talk to me some, but mostly was looking down at the phone). And she also took a phone call, which was important.

She is very ungrateful and definitely not humble. Has pictures posted on her facebook in an album entitled “Super Sexarrific Photos.” LOL.

KIDS!

I don’t know about that. Men have had intercourse with chickens, ducks, sheep, goats, horses ( I read about one man who got kicked in the head by the horse he was raping. I’m assuming the kick meant “No!”, and even walruses.

Can any woman be uglier than that last? Helen Thomas doesn’t count; I’m pretty sure she’s a shaved chimpanzee

I was referring more to attitude than to appearances.

Yes, but then there are lot’s more men don’t care about a woman’s appearance, as they intend to be gone by morning. There are a lot of scummy people out there, man and woman.

I thank you for the clarification.
