Most people don’t really understand how much canned food you can buy for $350.
This is survival, not dinner at the Ritz.
Canned chicken, corned beef, regular beef, green beans, corn and spinach; black beans, refried beans, and canned white potatoes. 25 pounds of rice. You’re set.
$350 will feed 2 people for a long time with those foods. Boring? yeah. Nourishing enough to live on, you bet.

I was reading about how to cook with food storage and this person made a point of mentioning that meat should be used as a flavoring. This is not the way we cook now but it would make the meat go farther. I am trying to stock up on gravies, meat base, Lipton and Knorr soups and other flavorings to use with noodles, rice, pasta and other caloric meal stretchers. Most preppers love south of the border cooking. That is generally cheap. You can do a lot with ground corn or cornmeal. Buckets of corn (that you can grind) will last thirty years and it is cheap. Among other places, they have it at Sam's.

25 pounds of rice is worthless if you don’t have any way to cook it. I have some butane stoves and extra butane canisters for preparing our rice. Just a friendly reminder ...

Boring? Got a neighbor who's idea of prepping is owning two pairs of pants. He also has a very weak stomach(all in his head...he nearly barfed when I cut open a clam.)I can't imagine what he's gonna do if I hand him a can of rice wrapped in grape leaves. But I don't think it'll be boring.
