As of this morning, an online petition condemning Lakewood bakery Masterpiece Cakeshop for its policy against working with gay weddings has garnered well over 4,000 signatures.
This weekend, for the second Saturday in a row, protesters gathered outside the store in an effort to convince owner Jack Phillips to change his mind. But that's not going to happen anytime soon.
"If I didn't have strong convictions about the issue in the first place, it wouldn't have come up," Phillips tells Westword. "None of the protests or anything will change that."

Great linking, thanks :)

Even Gore Vidal conceded this point:
Famous For His Hates: The Cool, Witty Gore Vidal NPR: Aug 1, 2012 Chris Bram)
He hit upon an ingenious strategy, arguing that "homosexual" was an adjective, not a noun. There was no such thing as a homosexual person, only homosexual acts.
What this pink journalist at taxpayer funded Letist State Radio acknowledged was an inconvenient truth, not a "ingenious strategy". BLOCKQUOTE
How many of the signers spit on the institution of marriage and want no part of it in their own lives?
My experience from liberal facebook associates is that straight or not, most of them (talking people above the age of 30 and even 45) do not want to be married (or are divorced and want no remarriage).
ODD that persons who dislike the notion of marriage want it redefined. What is their REAL beef? Pink journalists will never dwell on that aspect of the arguments.
He should take the perverts’ cake order, then send them a platter with a drawing instead of a cake...”Fake cake for fake wedding.”
Hey, sodomites! It’s time to go back to the closet.
They should make the cake for the queers but put a little “treaat” in the batter!
They’re also targeting AMWAY and the DeVos family in Michigan but I don’t think they thought that one through. After all, how do you boycott something you really have to go out of your way to buy?
Exactly.
Sometimes I think the motive is pure litigation and financial awards. Extortion, really.
When I had my landscaping business, a gay couple got mad at me because I wouldn’t sod ‘em........
Whew!
I almost posted this without a “JOKE” tag.....
LMAO ;-)
Yeah, had seen that - thanks for linking again. Really obnoxious and suspicious, as the charges go back to 2009-—but par for the course with these zealots.
What I am thinking about doing is sending money to cover the cost of cookies or brownies which he could then give to a homeless shelter, soup kitchen or maybe a Veteran’s family. Would prefer the latter but would be easier for him if I can find a name and address.
That is even a better idea. I would give him a big tip, also.
