Police officers in Lake Charles, Louisiana shot and killed a family dog named Monkey while chasing a suspect, according to an online petition calling for the police department to fully investigate the incident.
Those will work!
“As my kids get older, I will teach them to avoid interaction with police if at all possible. I no longer see them as the famous, altruistic, ‘thin blue line’ that protects me and my family. Sorry.”
Sadly, you are right. With some exceptions, LE departments have for the most part dumbed down their standards and are now largely staffed by thugs. There has been a rash of trigger-happy cops playing Rambo, and most often innocent bystanders or family pets are the victims.
Good idea. Thank you!
Twenty years ago, a cop who shot a housedog would have been laughed off the force (and likely would have trouble finding a job as an officer at any other precinct.
How times have changed....
Muhammed would have approved of Sudden Dog-Jihadi Syndrome.
Always viewed them as heroes.
Now...not so much.
Same here. Mom was right back when, but no longer.
Where is the cops-can-do-no-wrong crowd? 45 posts and not one defending them and saying what heroes they are. And the ones that critize them when they beat some helpless guy to death or shoot someone’s pet dog for no reason are cop haters.
This is a low-volume list so dont worry!
(Please Freep-mail me if youd like to be on or off the list.)
Condolences to the people losing this beautiful dog.
This sounds like a comedy - tragedy - of errors. Circumstances.
The dog escaped her yard because the crook left open her gate. She was (naturally) chasing after him and then the other suspicious people (police) who strangely were running like nuts, also. Not shocking if she *was* really charging them, doing her job. While you’re in pursuit of a crook, you don’t want to be impeded by bared teeth.
I say, don’t be shocked if the dog gets shot.
It’s tragic, but it doesn’t sound like the knee-jerk “jack-booted thugs” comments so glibly thrown around here most of the time. They were in pursuit and didn’t need another threat to impede them concurrently.
I could be wrong, but that’s how I read it now.
post-script:
Blame the scum assailants, not the cops.
Otherwise as asinine as blaming the US government for 9/11, instead of where it really belongs - with Moslem cultures.
Some day the dog owners will start shooting back.
Yep. My dogs are not only family but they have a job. That job is to help protect my little girl. If someone shoots my dog, I must assume they intend on harming my little girl. I will take all appropriate action to defend my little girls life.
I also have my dogs backs. Mess with them, you mess with me. You attack my dogs on my property, I’ll ruin your day real fast.
I, for one, am getting damn sick and tired of police overreaching. This is getting to be damned ridiculous.
I know there are good cops, but it seems like a growing percentage are just complete idiots.
Sickening.
It’s already happened, in Pennsylvania.
Slain Pa. officer had pointed stun gun at 2 dogs

I’ve been musing along those lines for some years now.
There seems to be *some* sort of signalling done via
all these patently gratuitious dog shootings. I can’t
say for *sure* it’s a “Jihad against Dogs”... bu the
results are the same.
“Some day the dog owners will start shooting back.”
They already have. Ever hear of Randy Weaver? His son shot at so-called law officers that killed his dog.
