'It's like a knife was stuck into us and twisted'
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) said last night on The Factor that the good guys only need
51 Senate votes to repeal ObamaCare, provided we've got a GOP president:
_________________________________________________________________________
'People are angry. Theyre shocked.
What Americans must realize is theres one option left, it's a powerful option- the ballot box in November.
I think more than ever Democrats and independents are going to be looking at Mitt Romney for president. Because its a very clear contrast. Its Barack Obama and you keep ObamaCare or its Mitt Romney and you repeal it
And people shouldt be fooled to think that we need to have 60 Republican seats in the senate. We dont. We need fifty plus one. Thats all we need. Thats what the Democrats had with the reconciliation bill and we can repeal ObamaCare.
Dont give up hope. We can get this done'

This needs to be repeatedly hammered to the public, 51 and done!

So how do we get 51 conservatives in the Senate?
We’ll need at least 55 Republicans to get 51 votes.

I don't recall the name of the procedure, but it amounts to a budgetary reconcilliation, so it only requires a simple majority of 51 votes, yes? Thank you for the post.
God willing, the people and businesses who will suffer most from taxaggedon will survive long enough for this to make a difference.

Bachmann should introduce a bill to repeal the ObamacareTax NOW.
The democrats who vote in favor of the tax should be targeted relentlessly and will probably be doomed in November.

Exactly, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander~
Remember when pundits said the Dems would regret setting the RECONCILIATION precedent they did when they rammed ObamaCare down an unwilling nation’s throat...?
Revenge is a dish best served cold!

True, 51 pubs certainly does not guarantee they will all vote for it. That is why we need a powerul citizen rebellion including massive repeal rallies to put the pressure on. There are also options other than repeal while we gather up the votes. Romney can give everyone waivers, states can refuse to implement, nullification, etc.

Cantor did just that, the repeal vote is July 9.

“So how do we get 51 conservatives in the Senate?
Well need at least 55 Republicans to get 51 votes.”
Good point, but fwiw ObamaCare never got a single GOP vote the first time
To: Reaganite Republican
Thanks for the information. I was under the impression it would take 60 votes (under current rules) to bring to a vote in the Senate. Here is to 51, after having won 70. Will be happy with 61 though.

That is why we need a powerul citizen rebellion including massive repeal rallies to put the pressure on. That would be called a tax revolt. Refuse to file and refuse to send the bastards anymore of our money. We could bring this government to it's knees if we could pull it off.
Take the whole damn country back in fact.

Actually, it did when it counted. Olympic Snowe (Uber-RINO, ME) voted to let Obamacare out of Senate Committee. Without her vote, Obamacaare died right there.
To: Reaganite Republican
There have been a handful of democrats who have expressed some regrets over it too.

He would not be in office at the time we get 51 senators to vote for it. Romney would be.
At least that is the hope.
To: Reaganite Republican
Don’t we just need a HHS Secretary to give everyone waivers?
To: SampleMan
And Romney hasn’t seemed to have the political argument to get to 60 votes, as I would example by comparison to some of Newt’s campaigning.

Technically, they only need 50 senators plus the VP.
