The 2nd Amendment doesn’t grant a right. It affirms a pre-existing natural one.
I do not have a gun. This is inactivity. I may now be taxed.
Alternate version: I have a gun. This is activity. I may now be taxed.
Alternate to the alternate version: I intend on getting a gun, or, maybe not. This is thought. It is also inactivity. I may now be taxed.
Eureka version: I see. I feel. I taste. I hear. I smell. Ergo, I can now be taxed.
I may be taxed for hurling. And for cleaning it up. I may also be taxed for any bloody thing I do or DO NOT DO.
The entire constitution protects rights we already had, as partlymdescribed in the Declaration. It doesn’t give us rights, it protects the inalienable rights we and the sovereign states had before fedgov existed. As well as exist if both state and fedgov are destroyed, we still have them because we are people, endowed by our Creator with these rights.
