Undocumented Mexican youths who came to the United States as children reacted with joy to an Obama administration rule change that could spare them deportation.
"It hasn't really sunk in entirely, but I feel a sense of joy and happiness because I know this is really going to change my life," said Justino Mora, 22, an undocumented computer science student at UCLA in Los Angeles.
Mora is among an estimated 800,000 illegal immigrants up to 30 years old who came to the US as children and will benefit by the surprise order announced by US Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.
"I will have the opportunity to create my own business so that I can help my family financially and create the jobs that the US needs," Mora told Reuters.
The rule change applies to undocumented youngsters like Mora who do not pose a risk to national security and who will now be eligible to stay in the country and apply for work permits. Mora came to the US at age 11 from central Mexico with his mother.
Those eligible under Obama's plan must have come to the US under the age of 16 and lived in the country for at least five years.
They must be in school or have graduated from high school or be honourably discharged from the U.S. military....

If I went through the legal process to be a citizen, I would be pretty psst right now!
If people want amnesty, they should find a VOLUNTARY sponsor to pick up all the costs (subsidies). Surely the meritorious cases can catch some private cash, while the illegal car thief won’t.
If you can’t find a voluntary “sponsor” to cover the past and recurring public costs - YOU’RE OUT!!!
Why did Hewitt want a “govt board” to make decisions on “hard cases” worthy of remaining — it’s NOT HIS MONEY! It’s the TAXPAYERS!!
That’s because the majority in Congress just want the illegal alien situation to go away.
This act by President Obama solves their problem.
By now the Bummer must be getting the picture that even Mitt Romney is far more palatable to the average American. So he figures he might as well wreak all the socialistic chaos he can. (Even most socialist countries aren’t this doormatly for interlopers.)
But it won’t go away, of course. And this is going to incense the average American even more.
Have no doubt that little boy while smokin his pot stoned out of his mine, saying how great it would be to have a revolution in the United States.
If congress does not do their duty . . . then time for legal citizens to arise and do their duty.
The Great Divider. Thanks asshole
Just wait..we aint seen nothing yet.
There remains one way to stop this, and it is not nice.
It will require that EVERY SINGLE citizen who believes in the former republic get involved.
Can we PLEASE Impeach him NOW!?
Monday morning I’m call all my Reps. This is ridiculous.
This is just another rabble rousing tactic....just like the b**** with the "contraceptives for all" venue.
What he needs now is for Michael Jackson to be spotted visiting the White House.
I got a call from my friend today, whom came from the UK and is now a US Citizen, after 15 years of following rules and horrendous paperwork. He is FURIOUS, and said this move by Obama is a huge insult and slap in the face to those whom have come here legally.
I agree with him.
Sounds more like he's trying to grant himself retroactive citizenship!!!!
I guess it’s all fair game now...
therefore, we should expect the republicans to support tax amnesty... ie: no federal income taxes
and charges against those killing infants (in the womb)
and jail time for anyone in any state doing drugs
as well as jail time for all state officials not arresting those selling / doing drugs and judges letting them go
In a non election cycle I would agree. But not this.
Time for the “Mother of all TEA Parties”!!! We need to march on Washington NOW!
