Question: If Obama’s mother was an American citizen at the time of his birth, doesn’t that automatically make him an American citizen, no matter where he was born?
The law at the time prohibited this because five years since her 18th birthday had not passed when she gave birth to Dunham/Soetoro/Obama and his father was undisputably a foreign national. This issue concerning the law and his mothers age has been discussed at great length on FR. As well, Article 2 Sect 1 of the US Constitution requires the president to be a natural born citizen not "just" a citizen.
This quandary we see with Soetoro's citizenship isn't something new to presidential qualifications as Chester Alan Arthur was generally accepted as having dual citizenship with Canada and that was pretty big news back then.

Possibly....most likely...maybe not...unfortunately, in any event, merely being a citizen is not the Constitutional requirement..... being a natural born citizen is. It’s a matter of language.....a natural born citizen is someone born in a country to parents who are it’s citizens. This is akin to a pedigree dog.
With only one citizen parent Obaqma Jr. isn’t a pedigree pup and and is ineligible to enter AKC events. In short, Obama is a mutt!

It seems there was a citizenship provision that the US citizne parent (mother) have lived in the US for 10 years, at least 5 of which were after the age of 14

According to the immigration and naturalization statutes which were in effect at the time of Obama's birth, his mother was not old enough to convey legal US citizenship to him UNLESS she gave birth to him within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.
If she gave birth to Obama outside of the US, then he's not a US citizen, much less, a Natural Born Citizen (as required by the US Constitution).
Nope, at the time he was born the law read that in order for a child to be born a citizen to a one citizen parent, when the birth was in another country, then the parent had to be a certain age(forget the exact age but she wasn't it)and have lived in the USA for a certain amount of years. Bozo's mother didn't qualify. The exact figures have been posted on FR dozens, if not hundreds, of times.
He is NOT a US citizen if he was born in Kenya. And there is a big difference between American citizen and Natural Born Citizen.
If being born in Kenya was no detriment then why the big shuffle by Bozo to post forgeries to prove his birth was in USA territory?
Only if she was of legal age at the time to convey citizenship, which she wasn't, BUT the purported FATHER was not EVER a US citizen therefor he is NOT ELIGABLE on that admitted fact alone. Not a natural born citizen because he only has one citizen parent. You must have two. That is the real issue, not where he was born.
