ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) The reverend of a St. Paul church says he needs to raise $200,000 to pay off a church loan after most of his followers left because of his support for gay marriage.
The Rev. Oliver White runs Grace Community United Church of Christ in St. Paul. The 69-year-old said he needs to raise the money by June 30.
We lost our income when we lost a number of people from our congregation. White said.
White said two-thirds of his followers left after he said he supported same-sex marriage, and said he was against the marriage amendment that will be up for a vote in November.
I think people are scared scared of change, and what has been in the closet is finally coming out, and too many people are not willing to accept it, White said.
He argued they have to accept it, adding that its a civil rights issue.
Its time for our society to do as Rodney King did and say, Cant we all get along? That should be the 11th commandment as far as Im concerned, he said. We should not try to legislate morality, in terms of who should get married and who cant get married.
White said they are praying for a miracle donation, but says even if they lose the church, those remaining members will find another place to worship.
What doesn’t this “rever” end not understand about: Sleep with the faggots, wake up with AIDS, die, and go to hell?
He should take it up with the Boss.
He infiltrated the congregation and now he has to be responsible for it. Too bad, so sad.
Those that decided not support his leadership can start a new congregation and now learn to pick a leader in a much wiser fashion. That leader is going to only merit the position by the example he sets in word and deed.
:). Liberals don’t know Christianity...the church belongs to the Lord. A pastor is a shepherd who, if he fails his flock, ought to be removed.
Should have been a lot more than 2/3rds leaving.
This man no longer believes in Christianity, he is preaching the socialist gospel instead
Wow! talk about a wolf among the sheep! This guy is going to pay severely for misleading so many people! Thank the Lord that most of the congregation left!
Didn’t a tornado strike a church where a demoninational meeting voted to have openly sodomite clergy - in neighboring Minneapolis? Maybe it’s time for another tornado, or hailstorm.
The Gospel According to Rodney King - that’s a new one.
Idiot Rev trying to lead good people astray.....thankfully they didn;t all go down to HELL with him.
This vermin’s congregants are merely following St. Paul’s injunction; “come out from among them.”
Quite a surprise for this activist: "his" flock prefers the Bible to Political Correctness and they were really "His" flock. We've had adultery, polygamy, false witness, and other violations of God's Word in the closet for a long time, but that doesn't mean we need to accept those too and let them come out as something to be celebrated, and the congregation understood that better than a leader in name only, one who followed the NYT instead of the Gospel. As for more Commandments, I have enough humility to accept without even considering alternatives that God chose better than I would in that area.
There are way too many liberals calling themselves clergy. How Americans of faith ever allowed this infiltration...and it was organized...into churches is beyond me. Why the faithful do not rise en masse and oust these liberals from their leadership and flock is also beyond me. Screw the media whinning about fairness and tolerance. DO IT!
This looks like a good start though.
I grew up in the UCC. I left in the 70’s. Our church exists today because so many congregants left lucrative stocks to the church when they passed.
The new Pastor has a life partner.
I never understood the Matthew 7 warning to those Christians who heard the words, “Get away from evildoer, I never know you.” until recently.

Wrong, Ollie!
We're not scared, we're addamantly opposed to the perversion you peddle.
Funny how the argument is always framed in terms of the pro-normal side being on the defensive; backwards people who need to be brought up to modernity and civilization.
Sounds like the “rev” was hoist by his own petard.
Besides, if I know anything at all about Christianity (and I don’t know much) it’s not “his” church. It’s GOD’s church — built and supported by the giving hand and good works of the men and women who attend to give glory to His name and do works as He has made clear he wants them done.
If this “rev” is out of a job he has only his own hubris to blame.
Tough.
If this idiot thinks recognizing gays is a new thing, he needs to go back and read his Old Testament again.
It isn't new, it isn't change, it has been a recognized perversion and detriment to society for thousands of years.
Ever notice it’s all about fear? homo-PHOBIA, islmoPHOBIA, ‘people FEAR what they don’t understand’ commentary?
They have taken control of the language and warped it Orwell style. Their perceived strength is in their perceived numbers. People play along because they think the whole country believes what libs do and they do not want to be the odd man out.
But their numbers are propaganda. A maximum of 5% of the pop is gay on the high end. 2% most likely according to non inflated estimates.
Perception = reality = power for libs. Correct that perception via proper use of the language (and ‘fear’ isn’t the issue) and the libs lose the power of propaganda.
