I was just watching it. I don’t trust hollyweird/network TV, though. “Lights Out” was a good read and an interesting comparison to “Patriots” by Rawles.

Living without electricity for 15 years? Why do they look freshly showered, well fed, healthy? Why do their clothes look like they just came from a boutique? Salon haircuts and whiter than white teeth?

I can wind my own generator, there are tons of wire out there to salvage.... I'm not going without 'lektrikity for very long. Humans were making it back around the Civil War era. It's not rocket surgery.

The writers are on drugs. The sign on Wrigley Field says “2012 World Champions”.

15 years later the human race is too stupid to figure out how develop sources of light, other than candles.

The premise is a bit farfetched.

Will aliens eventually show up to save mankind?

“It’s Gonna Turn Off, and It Will Never, Ever Turn Back On”

I'm a prepper but all I have to say to the above is Used Bull Food!

Generating Electricity is not that hard, you just need a energy source. A running stream is probably the easiest and most reliable. Wind is also easy but you need a way to store the electricity for use when the wind is not blowing. Wet cell batteries for storage are not that hard to make. From those first two sources you can quickly develop coal burning electrical generation.

If the entire grid vanished we would have electricity being generated inside a few weeks and be back up and running in a couple of years. In a decade everything would be back the way it was.

The only way this works is with a "Dies the Fire" type world where the laws of chemical reactions are changed.

I think JJ is full on the gas, ramping up to the shark tank -- and the motorcycle is starting to sputter:

Star Trek 2 due in exactly one year, with this doofus as Khan??!

Friend of mind grew up in the Alaskan bush. Same age as me, 40’s.they had a large smokehouse for preserving meat(fish) & canned their food.

Another friend of mine, same age, grew up on a remote ranch here in Wyoming. No electricity. She is one heck of a cowgirl. Big family, 8 kids.

It’s very possible to live without electricity

I like this one - From the IMDB Message Board....

How the show ends *spoiler*

The planned end of the show has been leaked. So read below if you don't care about spoilers.

The long term plan is, that towards the final run of the show they'll introduce some characters we haven't seen before and no one cares about. The show will then follow them and their story largely ignoring the ones the shows been about. A couple of these characters will be fighting over a key which won't be explained.

Eventually one of them gets the keys after out smarting the other. He'll then walk into a cave and find a rock with a rusty lock in it. There'll be a mysterious yellow light coming out of the hole. He'll stick the key in, turn it and all the power will come back on and the show ends.

The plan is to disappoint anyone that stuck with the show and enjoyed the characters and the story. Those that are disappointed will then find no comfort in the explanation of, "it doesn't matter how it ended, or why anything happened. It was about the journey."
