Where Do Conservatives Go Now?
http://www.conservativehq.com ^ | 4-18-12 | Richard A. Viguerie

Today, Parts 1, 2 & 3.

Now that moderate former Massachusetts Governor Mitt is the presumptive Republican nominee for President, many conservatives are asking “What should I do now that it looks like Republicans will not nominate a conservative candidate for President?”

First, don’t be Mitt Romney’s cheap date.

The grassroots movement conservative voters who powered the Santorum campaign can not be taken for granted. During the 2006 congressional elections some 4 million conservative voters stayed home, producing one of the greatest defeats for the Republican Party in the modern era.

Some conservatives were quick to endorse Mitt Romney now that the nomination looks settled. They got it exactly backwards – conservatives should not be rushing to embrace Romney; Romney should be rushing to embrace conservatives.

No one wants to stay home during this important election cycle, however, Mitt Romney has given little evidence he wants, and is willing to work for, conservative support.

If Mitt Romney wants the support of grassroots conservatives and Tea Partiers, the next six moves are up to him.

So far there’s no new sign that a Romney administration will result in the kind of fiscally sound, constitutionally conservative government that conservatives saw coming from the other candidates in the race.

Second, redouble conservative efforts to takeover the Republican Party.

Time after time during the Republican primary election cycle grassroots conservatives and Tea Partiers saw establishment Republican Party officials put their thumb on the scale to tip the balance in Mitt Romney’s favor.

To prevent this from happening again, and to build a Republican Party leadership that truly represents its conservative base, Tea Partiers and grassroots conservative activists must redouble their efforts to takeover the Republican Party.

This means running for positions in the Republican Party organization – starting with precinct committeeman or woman – and getting involved in the local Republican Party organization.

That might be just slightly better than Comrade ORomney thanking me for mine. If he needs my vote in Tennessee to remain competitive, he has already lost in a landslide.

Willard Mitt Romney...

He’s not a Kenyan Communist bent on destruction of the United States. Obama is. Obama is a “red diaper” baby. He was born a communist. He was raised a communist. He was educated communist. He is, today, a communist.

No but Willard Mitt Romney is..

He’s a Mexican Socialist bent on destruction of the United States.

He was born a Socialist.

We have trusted those in positions of power on all levels. Our trust was misplaced.

The issue in Florida was that they changed the date of their primary. Before a certain date they could not be a winner take all state. The RNC broke their own rules and allowed Romney to take all. There are articles on FR.

I have to call it a night. Have a good one.

I’m not going to respond to everyone individually but I will say this: When Obama is reelected President, when he increases the debt to 20 or 30 trillion and the US is forced to default on it’s loans, when we have hyperinflation robbing everyone of their earnings and their savings, when the military is finally gutted to the point where Mexico and Canada start eyeing us hungrily, when gasoline is over $10.00 a gallon because Obama will not allow new drilling or refinerys, when more and more of our major corporations move their operations overseas to escape the business hostile climate in the US are you still going to piously exclaim, “But at least I didn’t vote for that RINO Romney!”?

“One last point; I find it a bit discus ting to watch several FReepers (not necessarily this thread) trash Romney as the nominee, when many of these folks joined with Politico and other Left-leaning rags in trashing our early GOP contenders. How times did i hear Freepers trashing Bachman or Santorum saying: “Yep, they’re just not ready for prime time!” It was shameful watching FReepers gladly join along with Politico and the many bogus allegations about Cains “affairs.” And now many of these folks express outrage that we’re stuck with Romney? Sorry, but these folks who helped pile onto our candidates hold at least some responsibility for where we are today. “

HEARTILY agree. I was dismayed with the circular firing squad. I entertained supporting all, ended up deciding to support Perry about a month before he dropped out. Then I switched to Newt. But I DID NOT bash the other candidates - did compare records and statements here and there, but repeatedly said I’d support whoever ended up nominated, and that all candidates were better than Obama.

Correction, I was pretty critical of Paul. But that’s all.

I simply refuse to allow the Kenyan four more years to complete his destruction of our nation.

Obama and the rest of the Statists will NEVER destroy our Republic. What they may indeed accomplish is collapsing the Federal Parasite bureaucracies.

It's kind of comical watching Mittbots and others trying to scare Conservatives into voting for the other rabid Statist, AKA Mitt.

Mitt and the GOP-e are as big an enemy as the RATs.

Does anyone honestly believe that Mitt would do anything to turn our Republic towards Liberty?? No. He would only delay our Socialist ending.

p.s. the other side of the end game is the repudiation of government and the flowering of Liberty.
