American Jews are re-evaluating their support for President Obama and the Democrat Party. Although Jewish voters historically gravitate to the American Left, there is a noticeable shift in their voting behavior of late.
What best explains this?
Many Jews are disgruntled with Obamas poor treatment of Israel. In 2011, President Obama called for Israel to return to pre-1967 borders a move criticized by many for suggesting Israel return to indefensible Auschwitz borders. This sentiment was affirmed in NY-09s special election to replace disgraced former congressman Anthony Weiner a contest in a heavily Jewish, pro-Israel district. Bob Turner campaigned as the pro-Israel candidate and later went on to defeat his Democrat challenger.
Israel is not the only issue concerning American Jews. Although Jews voted for Barack Obama over John McCain 78% to 21% in 2008, the American Jewish Committees 2011 survey of Jewish opinion revealed that many are abandoning Obama. Here is a summation of the surveys findings: Jewish voters disapproved of Obamas job performance 48% to 45%, disapproved of his handling of the economy 60% to 37%, disapproved of his handling of immigration 49% to 43%, and disapproved of his treatment of U.S.-Israel relations 53% to 40%.
Another development could sway Jews to the Right this November. According to Newsmax, a forthcoming book entitled Herbert Hoover and the Jews: The Origins of the Jewish Vote and Bipartisan Support for Israel reveals that President Herbert Hoover and the Republican Party first reached out to Jews and worked to help Holocaust victims.
TheCollegeConservatives own David Milstein, also the president of Young Jewish Conservatives, is encouraged by this news. I recently asked David his thoughts on Jewish voters, conservatism, and his organizations plans for the upcoming election.

Non-support of Israel by the left is anything but new so I doubt a major shift by Jewish voters to the right unless a reduction from 78% to 76% in support of the Demonrat Party can be so defined.
American Jews are Liberals FIRST.
Liberals SECOND.
Democrats THIRD.
Democrats FOURTH.
Jews?..........Meh.
Every four years we read something like this — that Jews may actually vote Republican in larger numbers — and then Jews vote overwhelmingly Democrat once again. It doesn’t matter how badly the Dems treat Jews. Jews think that Republicans are all reincarnations of Hitler and aren’t willing to think beyond that.
What seems to have caused you to excerpt your own blog?
Trolling for hits?
Why are you so half-empty? Why is it that every time someone posts an article about Jews who are awakening to the depridations of our current President or the liberal agenda or socialism or the Democrat party, the thread becomes filled with statements that Jews will never support conservative causes or vote Republican?
President George H.W. Bush got more than 30% of the Jewish vote in 1988, after two years of Ronald Reagan’s presidency.
Why don’t you slam every article about black conservatives the way that Jewish conservatives get shrugged off on this site? Do you think that conservatives should not try and get votes from Hispanics because they generally vote for Democrats?
Are you so pessimistic about everything? Do you think that Josh Mandel in Ohio is somehow illegitimate as a conservative? Do you think that David Horowitz is a poser?
Really...take a moment and think of what you are doing.
