You know it's bad when...the net flow of Mexicans into the US has fallen so much that there is a high probability that it is now in reverse ending around forty years of inward migration. The Pew Hispanic Center notes that the standstill - after more than 12 million current immigrants have entered the US - more than half of whom are illegal - appears to be the result of many factors including a weakened US job and construction market, tougher border enforcement, a rise in deportations, growing dangers associated with border crossing, a long-term decline in Mexico's birth rate, and changing (read perhaps more opportunistic) economic conditions in Mexico (especially if you work at WalMex). This sharp downward trend in net migration has led to the first significant decrease in at least two decades in the number of unauthorized Mexican immigrants living in the U.S. - to 6.1 million in 2011, down from a peak of nearly 7 million in 2007. In the five years from 2005 to 2010, about 1.4m Mexicans immigrated to the US exactly the same number of Mexican immigrants and their US-born children who quit the US and moved back or were deported to Mexico. By contrast, in the previous five years to 2000 some 3m Mexicans came to the US and fewer than 700,000 left it. It will be interesting to see the spin that the Obama and Romney camps put on this hot-button topic as the 'Dream Act' turns into a nightmare and hardline anti-illegal immigration stances become, well, less relevant as Mexicans become Mexican'ts.
Among the reports key findings:
- In the five-year period from 2005 to 2010, about 1.4 million Mexicans immigrated to the United States and about 1.4 million Mexican immigrants and their U.S.-born children moved from the United States to Mexico.
- In the five-year period a decade earlier (1995 to 2000), about 3 million Mexicans had immigrated to the U.S. and fewer than 700,000 Mexicans and their U.S. born-children had moved from the U.S. to Mexico.
- This sharp downward trend in net migration has led to the first significant decrease in at least two decades in the number of unauthorized Mexican immigrants living in the U.S.to 6.1 million in 2011, down from a peak of nearly 7 million in 2007. Over the same period the number of authorized Mexican immigrants rose modestly, from 5.6 million in 2007 to 5.8 million in 2011.
- Mexicans now comprise about 58% of the unauthorized immigrants living in the United States. They also account for 30% of all U.S. immigrants. The next largest country of origin for U.S. immigrants, China, accounts for just 5% of the nations stock of nearly 40 million immigrants.
- Apprehensions of Mexicans trying to cross the border illegally have plummeted by more than 70% in recent years, from more than 1 million in 2005 to 286,000 in 2011a likely indication that fewer unauthorized immigrants are trying to cross. This decline has occurred at a time when funding in the U.S. for border enforcementincluding more agents and more fencinghas risen sharply.
- As apprehensions at the border have declined, deportations of unauthorized Mexican immigrantssome of them picked up at work or after being arrested for other criminal violationshave risen to record levels. In 2010, nearly 400,000 unauthorized immigrants73% of them Mexicanswere deported by U.S. authorities.
- Although most unauthorized Mexican immigrants sent home by U.S. authorities say they plan to try to return, a growing share say they will not try to come back to the U.S. According to a survey by Mexican authorities of repatriated immigrants, 20% of labor migrants in 2010 said they would not return, compared with just 7% in 2005.
- Looking back over the entire span of U.S. history, no country has ever sent as many immigrants to this country as Mexico has in the past four decades. However, when measured not in absolute numbers but as a share of the immigrant population at the time, immigration waves from Germany and Ireland in the late 19th century equaled or exceeded the modern wave from Mexico.

Most likely the Mexicans finally caught wind of the genetically modified peppers we slip into their food that makes them incapable of breeding chillun' or speaking Spanish.
That kind of thing just can't be kept hidden. So sad.

Obama did say he had a plan to do something about illegal immigration. Destroying the job market is a plan.

Forgive me if I think this is simply well-timed propaganda meant to placate conservatives into allowing immigration to be a non-issue for the November elections. It’s also suspect given that the Supreme Court is discussing this very issue this week. It’s as if the MSM wants to say, “Why worry about it when there’s no problem?”
Where neither Obamney or Rombama are interested in securing our borders I find the timing of this ‘revelation’ to be highly suspect especially given the fact that illegal immigrants continue to cause problems in the border states.

Well, this is a fine kettle of fish.
NOW who is going to do the jobs that Americans don’t want to do?

Thus we have the answer to that stupid, stupid question liberals always ask (whine) “how will we deport 12 million people?”
Answer: make it so uncomfortable they will SELF-DEPORT. And that is exactly what we are seeing.
Now, remove free housing, health care food and schools and we should see the rest of them go.

Maybe so, but the real enduring truth that should be taken away from it is that leftist Rats F up EVERYTHING they touch. . . . And our public take should be that they have F’ed up things so bad, the Mexicans don’t even want to come here even if they are handing out freebies right and left.

Manufactured statistics driven by the agenda of the Pew Hispanic Center (the source) whose purpose, according to their website is as follows:
"Founded in 2001, the Pew Hispanic Center is a nonpartisan {Ha!} research organization that seeks to improve understanding of the U.S. Hispanic population and to chronicle Latinos growing impact on the nation." (LINK)
Funny how Pew always comes out with one of these "there's no longer an illegal alien problem" report whenever the national debate requires them to tip the playing field from immigration enforcement to amnesty.

Congrats to the Kenyan King. He has solved our illegal immigration dilema,by bringing the American economy to it’s knees. No work for anyone, No worries. A true day without a Mexican has Happened under his rule.

Bingo! You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!
The article is propaganda.
I live and work in the Barrio among the immigrants. I chat with them in the checkout line at the grocery store.
Just drive down to Home Depot and the desperate workers will jump in the back of your truck before you can say, “Busca trabajo?”.
Many are now from Honduras, Guatemala, et al.
I can show you apartment complexes with amazing number of immigrants. They must be living ten to a room.
Freepers, LEARN THE LESSON: NEVER TRUST THE MSM!

PS: Also funny how Pew refuses to cite the enforcement efforts of individual states to enforce the immigration laws Obama won’t enforce as a factor in whatever the true balance of immigration-emigration is.
