Maybe things are worse with Bella than has been publicly announced, and they want to spend what time she has with her? Or could be that he was trailing badly in the GOP primary in his own state, which wouldn’t be good for any kind of future in politics.

1) He was going to lose his own state to Romney
2) He had absolutely zero, I mean zero chance of defeating Romney and he knows it.

Allegedly he's dropping out because of his daughter's health. I suspect it's more likely he knows he can't win, and wants to drop out before his decision is completely irrelevant.
