Let’s not forget one that is absolutely indispensible: Develop a high tolerance for the meddlesome interference of utter idiots - especially government bureaucrats and self-inflated commissars.

But I repeat myself.

Not the list of 25 I would make, but not too bad. For example, I am not sure 9 is appropriate as a must know skill? 12 and 22 are basically the same and whats with 16...anyway...

I think the prerequisites are basically, attitude, planning, water, fire, food (hunting, planting and gathering), defensive techniques and offensive techniques. Look at the primary skills semi-nomadic people groups have for guidance.

Other key skills that are able to be learned and useful would be basic blacksmithing, woodworking and a basic knowledge of chemistry.

One more, from Admiral James Bond Stockdale, who spent over seven years checked-in at the Hanoi Hilton:
"This is a very important lesson. You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end—which you can never afford to lose—with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be."

A human being should be able to:
change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
-Lazarus Long

good advice then and always
