When Hate of Capitalism Trumps "Journalistic Ethics"

Some professional journalists enjoy pooh pooh-ing the blogosphere because we lowly citizens simply don't have the required "layers and layers of fact checkers" that Real Journalists have to vett their articles though.

But what happens when a Real Journalist organization really really really wants something to be true? Well then those layers of fact checking can go by the wayside like they did with this "expose" of Big Greedy Capitalist Apple and Demon Western Materialism (the iPhone).

My favorite bit is where the author of the piece so desperately wants to paint Westerners as being so Greedy That Workers Must Be Bleed that he makes up a meeting with a factory worker who loses a hand making iPhones:

'He's never actually seen one on, this thing that took his hand. I turn it on, unlock the screen, and pass it to him. He takes it. The icons flare into view, and he strokes the screen with his ruined hand, and the icons slide back and forth. And he says something to Cathy, and Cathy says, "he says it's a kind of magic."'

The title, taken alone, is the truth in spades!

We are cookin’ with gas when we tell it like it is and stop continuing to rub two sticks together with the GOP-E.

What are journalistic ethics? I’ve never noticed anything such as that in my lifetime!

As far as “Journalistic Ethics” I hear that ‘off the record’ is like the Unicorn - it doesn't F’ing exist.
