I was DEAD WRONG last Night
Scott Ryan

Posted on 03/13/2012 8:23:39 PM PDT by publius321

I was dead wrong last night in a post that I wrote here at freerepublic last night titled "Split" the convention - DON'T Split the Vote in the South! Romney is counting on it. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/2858265/posts?page=1

- and I have never been more pleased to be wrong. The lesson to me is that GOD is in control and He speaks to the hearts of man. I’m glad more people didn’t listen to me.

I encouraged Santorum voters to vote for Newt Gingrich in Alabama and Mississippi because I was concerned that Santorum gaining in the polls would give Romney a chance at winning one of those southern states.

It came close to happening. Mitt Romney came within a few percentage points of winning with a mere 30%. We KNOW how the shills in the media, we know who they are – we know how they would have spun the story – despite the fact that any person with even a moderate amount of intelligence can extrapolate the fact that the conservative vote in every state except for New Hampshire and a few other ultra leftist prone states will ever come close to voting for Romney by anything close to a majority.

Tonight I felt HOPE, real hope when I witnessed what happened in Mississippi and Alabama. I have maintained in my videos and blogs that I really have a great deal of admiration and respect for BOTH Newt and Rick.

I hope and pray that ALL conservatives can be mature and respectful of each other and toward Rick and Newt. Both have flaws in their record but the body of both of their decades in public service reflect noble and conservative records.

The southern strategy is dead. In my opinion, it would be better if Santorum did not directly or indirectly call for Newt to bow out because it will only make it –less- likely that Newt will withdraw. I personally believe that if Newt remains in the race, he may be embarrassed as more conservatives get behind Santorum.

But if Newt does withdraw, it should be his choice. That is the only way that Newt could go out with the dignity he deserves. I think newt Gingrich would be better in a more ACTIVE role in a Santorum administration. Vice President would be useless as he is at an age where he would not benefit from a catalyst to a future presidential opportunity. Secretary of State may be better unless he wanted to be on the ticket as VP for some reason. I don’t want to anger Newt supporters in writing this but no doubt some readers will take it the wrong way.

Respectfully, Scott Ryan http://www.TableOfWisdom.com

Hey, it takes a big man, etc ;-) Just shows how silly it is to invest a lot of energy in trying predict future events, let’s hope you are right about who is running this show.

We press on!

Where is KARL ROVE TONIGHT? Where is Dick Morris???

Very strange that the two great Romney shills are mysteriously nowhere to be seen.

You were wrong last night, you are wrong tonite and you will wake up being wrong tomorrow and the day after.

Newt had all that Casino Owners money and he still could not win the South. His continued participation WILL insure Rommey is the nominee.

I think some penance is in order...

Say 5 “Screw Baracks” and 3 “No Romneys” and we’ll call it square.

You would prefer Santorum sign those amnesty orders himself?

I was just flipping channels and caught Anderson Cooper drooling over the fact that Newt will continue to split the vote ensuring a Romney win, so over the next few days they’ll be pushing for him to hang around. With Gingrich out of the race the Mitt-wits would be on suicide watch.

No mystery - both were seen boarding a plane to go quail hunting with Cheney.

PULL!

I think, rather than making unseemly public calls for people to drop out, Newt and Rick should be talking about this stuff privately, and keeping their strategizing to themselves. Mitt and Ron certainly are.

A good post, particularly in that you can be glad to be “wrong” when opinions are flying in all directions.

I’d love to see Newt blow the numbers away, win the nomination and the election, and actually re-balance our judiciary. I’ve said before that he’s the only candidate capable, courageous, and crazy enough to do that tremendously important job. But some critics are right: if Newt became Prez 45, we’d all listen for the “tick, tick, tick,” that might mean he was shaping *yet another* BIG idea.

Santorum is mostly solid. He’s not always inspiring. He is a very good catholic. Search for a 1999 story of a Veteran’s Home destroyed because Rick amended a bill. But with warts (which I’m now growing as a cash crop), either of these conservatives would be *infinitely* better than BHO.

I was glad to see your post for another reason. I haven’t maintained a Facebook page for some years, and couldn’t (yet) send a private message on my newly “semi-revived” Freep account.

Keep charging! It makes you harder to hit!

yes. our Lord is opening a way for us if we will have faith.

remember, fear is the mind killer. fear is the republican way. faith in and love for the Lord is the conservative way.

I second that. Newt would be a great CIC.
He would eviscerate Odumbo in debate!
