The Lifetime Television Network claims to be for women. Its mission statement claims:
Lifetime Networks is a diverse, multi-media company, committed to offering the highest quality entertainment and information programming content that celebrates, entertains and supports women. Through its award-winning public affairs initiatives, the Company also advocates a wide range of issues affecting women and their families.
Nowhere in their statement do they mention the well-being of little girls, so it should come as no surprise to anyone that this network would choose to produce an episode of a show called Dance Moms in which little girls are basically taught a bump-and-grind routine, dressed in nude costumes bedizzend with sequins and feathers, and required to peform said routine in front of the cameras. Yeah, that celebrates, entertains, and supports women, all right....
The woman in charge of all of this, Abby Lee Miller, teaches the little girls this routine:
Im hot, Im mean, you cant have me, you cant afford me, Miller recited to the girls as she taught the moves, before telling the cameras: The moms are ridiculous because all theyre worried about is their kids and their bodies and blah blah. Once youve seen one youve seen them all. This is show business kid.
You cant have me, you cant afford me. Honestly, I cant think of anything more horrifying than having a daughter of mine under the thumb of a woman like this for any reason whatsoever.

No, we want Mitt Romney to pull out. Derp.
I am speechless... well maybe government forced condoms is a good thing after all with moms like these.
And you wonder why there’s a show called “Jersey Shore”.
Anyone who allows their little girls to appear on this show should be reported to DYFS.
I thought women didn’t want to be sex objects anymore?????
Same goes for those freaks on “Toddlers and Tiaras.”
I have three teen daughters, so this show is on all the time.
The teacher Abby is very unPC. She tells it like it is. Which I normally like. She doesn’t buy into the ‘every one wins and gets a ribbon’ mentality.
Now about this particular episode, I am not sure. I haven’t seen it.
I do now there was an episode where the girls all used fake guns for a skit and the PC moms were all up in arms. And Abby laughed them off. The girls won the event using the guns.
My wife recorded a few shpws before she saw what it was all about.
I am sure you saw the episode where the 8-yr old girls were dressed as strippers and disqualified.
Look, this Abby is an abusive toad that insults parent in front of their children. . .and also insults the parent to the child when the parent is not around.
The parents are enablers of their own abuse and abuse of their children.
This show is begging to be satirized by South Park, with Abby a perfect Cartman.
This show should be called:
“Mommies with major insecurites using their daughters to soothe their warped egos”
As a former competitive dancer, I experienced the same things. The costumes may change, dances were different, but the pathetic moms and attempts at one-upmanship NEVER change. Our coaches, at least, were very decent women.
Some of my former teammates are still close friends all these years later, and yet our mothers have the same issues they had when we were kids. ALL of us have put hundreds of miles between our mothers and our growing families. As these daughters on “Dance Moms” grow up, they will probably do the same.
Living vicariously through your kid...it’s not very different than the baseball dads I see freaking out at my son’s Little League games. It’s so screwed up.
They ought to take this crowd to a Special Olympics Cheerleading Competition (or any SO Event). It’s so humbling, yet heartwarming. There’s no nastiness or backbiting, either. These teams root for eachother, congratulate their competitors....as a first year volunteer coach, it was an eye-opener for me.
For the participants, winning is great, but just being there was a wonderful, exciting & congenial experience. In all my years of “cut-throat” competition, bringing home big trophies and bragging rights, it was nothing compared to the what I experienced with our Special Olympics group.
Is that Ariana Huffington?
Is that a five year old wearing a bathing suit with a padded bra top? That’s rather horrifying.
I saw the clip on the internet of that Dance Moms thing. Also horrifying. If that had been one of my children I would have been out of there so fast. No way would I allow them to be exploited like that. I can’t believe those moms stood there and let it happen, even while they appear to know it was shockingly wrong.
What if this were a male dance instructor? And how is this not a form of child porn?
heard about this show and saw it last night and I never will watch it again now.
They bring in this black supposedly homo woman into the show and within minutes she is harping on about how she is from the hood, she had a wife, how the other black woman should have her back.
Abby Lee I think that is her name is doing child abuse plain and simple and those parents should have the balls to say enough and walk out and this new mother the black racist should have never have bene allowed anywhere near a camera
Tell me I'm wrong.
