Thanks for the quick quotes and link compilation - people would be fools to take all this concern about Uganda at face value since all the usual leftist suspects are lining up to cheerlead it. Something else is in the works under the radar.

Kony is a real creep, but a symptom of the problems in African culture and political culture. The communists have been the ones that talk and are “allowed” to talk about it, as their solution is pillage wealthy western countries.

The video? How incredibly precious. How special.

It’s a video about the videographer, a classic Narcissist, and his Self-Object son, Gavin, who will become - as sure as a bean seed becomes a bean - a classic Narcissist himself.

I have mixed views on this Kony video thing. It has a "Occupy Wallstreet" protest feel to it, but unlike the silly OWS freaks, it is a good cause.

I think getting rid of evil people is a worthwhile investment, but we shouldn't bankrupt ourselves doing it. Find the SOBs location and use a drone strike or drop a bomb on him.

And do you think for one second the lefties would care if Kony headed the “Atheists’ Resistance Army.” Heck, they’d probably support him.

As most people know by now this charity is not worth supporting and Mr. Kony is no longer a real threat. Please use this as a lesson to all your friends on social media that they need to check their facts before falling in behind any cause either charitable or political.

Cheers

It’s funny that the folks who are pushing the hardest for us to “do something” about this are the same ones that whine and complain whenever we “do something” in any other country. They don’t want us to mess with Iran because it has oil and stability in the region would help us, Uganda on the other hand has no valuable resources at all so clearly we should clean that mess up.

We saw the same thing during what Tony Blair referred to as “The First Progressives’ War”, Kosovo......the media portrayed Slobodan Milosevic and the greatest monster, since Adolf Hitler.

This man’s opinion is right on.

There are many examples of the Africans in Uganda objecting to this:

also

http://www.boingboing.net/2012/03/08/african-voices-respond-to-hype.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter&fb_source=message

In my opinion, this whole business is designed to justify the Obama Administration getting involved in these countries.

Remember several months ago, he sent 100 “advisers” to seek out Kony and we have never heard about them again. The problem is, Kony has not been in Uganda for many years. He is operating out of the DRC and is not the problem he once was in Uganda.

My daughter lived in Gulu in Northern Uganda, and beliefs similar to mine - Conservative and Christian. She has stated that the Northern Ugandans detest this organization and others like i. They are not helping. They are hurting. The outside NGOs, particularly the ones from the United Nations, have done the most damage.

This kids’ viral video is so wrong, because it speaks as if Kony is still in Uganda. He is long gone and Northern Uganda has been in relative peace for some time. There is no need to militarize Uganda, and it will bring suffering to a people who are trying to recover on their own, and doing quite well.

So why the support for this video, couched in terms of saving the Ugandans?

Just who is behind the making and spreading of this video?

I’ll bet it is Soros and the Tides foundation or some such organization created by those of their ilk.

I wish I had the resources to check this out.

It is another Obama fiasco in the making

Kony has NOT been in Uganda since 2006! They believe he is in the Central African Republic, if he is still alive! They film makers are 6 yrs too late in releasing this!!! They need money!

What I find so funny is the difference in opinions between those actually serving in the military and their peers here at home. The FB posts from my sons and their friends in the military are the complete opposite of everyone elses. The common theme, “If you want military action, then sign up yourself” They are also quick to point out that while Kony is a bad man, why were y’all so upset about us taking out Saddam Hussein. I will take the wisdom of our young troops over the the brainiacs here in a minute!

My 17 year old senior daughter came home the other day and started researching this whole Kony 2012 thing. She said all her friend were talking about it and posting it on their facebooks. But she had this strange feeling in the back of her mind something was not right. So by the time I had gotten home from work about 10 pm, she had researched it and made up her mind that this was not something she wanted to be involved with. Citing that most of the money doesn't go to helping the people and that why when these people hate America and never want us to help would they want us there to kill this Kony guy. She wanted me to watch the video for my imput, but when I read that Kony was no longer there and that the military they want to give all this money to also rapes and kills children, what was the point except to get the world after just one person. If that can happen to this just one person, who could be next? You, me?

Proud to say, she even come here to FreeRepublic on her own to do a little research but found nothing. The first article showed up that night after I had gotten home and it was met with mixed emotions here on this site at that time.

She said "when the liberals are pushing something, I better check it out for myself." Good girl!

I am suspicious of this whole thing. On other forums, I have seen close to “advertisements” about this video, so I suspect it is not just “a naturally occurring virus”, but one that was man-made in a propaganda lab somewhere.

This raises the question, who would benefit, and in what way?

While there is already a small contingent of US advisers in the area, helping some African countries to fight these kooks, is someone pushing to make a large, sustained military entry by the US military into Africa?

Remember that trying to generate artificial support for US military operations has been around since Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst agitated in their newspapers to bring about the Spanish-American War (successfully) by creating bogus stories to sell their newspapers.

Yes, the video is moving and all. However, my inner cynic suggests something else here - take note of the date plastered all over this video "2012".

Picture this: this dude, and Cluney and Bono and all the other usual suspects arouse 20-30m skulls full of mush to get behind this issue. The social media campaign peaks, as they plan, on April 20, spilling over and enthusing the waiting MSM. We then have a couple of months of following the adventures of Barry's 100 advisers in central Africa - will they corner the evil arch enemy? Can our plucky boys outwit the diabolic warlord?? It's a great story for the Spring and Summer.

Then in September we find him and kill him in the firefight. Osama II. Only this time there's 20-30m following the events on FB. That's 20-30m enthusiastic voters. Don't kid yourselves, this crew in the WH know how to play this.

They're always the ones accusing the repubs of planning convenient low cost foreign adventures, well, how is this operation for the ultimate in low cost and convenience??
