In my view, Rich Santorum is weak, a Charlie Brown type character for whom Obama (Lucie) will simply yank the ball away as we head towards massive defeat
Not thanks- if Noot can't come back I'd prefer and open convention, Palin vs. Jeb Bush or some such thing.
Mittens would lose in November due to insufficient contrast and a disgusted GOP base. I agree he's an improvement over Obama, and not a maniacal racist/marxist- BUT ...deeply resent having Romney stuffed down my throat by the GOP old guard. At this point is merely slowing the growth rate of the state sector good enough? Methinks not.
Mark me down for 'Cuda: We used to fear her polling negatives, and honestly I was glad she didn't run. But now, after how all the negative campaigning has played out... Palin looks more than worth a chance since everybody else on the GOP side has suffered similar damage from flailing negative attacks.
All I know for sure is Rich Santorum is NOT going to cut it, my friends... talk about 'settling' for the mediocre, good grief.
>> “Im all in w/this, but how did Sarah know it would come to this?” <<

How could it not come to this with weak, lackluster candidates like Huntsman, Bachmann, Perry, Santorum, and Paul? And the establishment pushing Romney the retched?
Agreed.
I’m not looking forward to the public beheading of Social Conservatism.
Go Newt 2012!!!
Sarah is Mother Abagail; Obama is Randall Flagg- the “dark man”.
In a way, ever since Palin first appeared on the national scene and became immediately targeted for total and complete obliteration, I’ve viewed it as a grand battle between pure good and pure evil. Sadly, it often seems that the latter has been having the upper hand, being increasingly ascendent all over the country. Which further makes me doubt its ultimate survival.
Tucson is Pima County, wrong crooked sheriff.
Trolling again?
I don’t understand how a deadlocked convention leads to Palin. As I understand it (and I could be wrong) a deadlocked convention/brokered convention means everyone breaks out into huddles of delegates by state or whatever and the POWER-BROKERS start negotiating, bargaining and cutting deals for delegate commitments.
If it’s the establishment GOP power-brokers who have all the leverage, money and deals lined-up, what does Palin (or anyone else) have that can beat that?
I guess what I’m asking is, can someone knowledgeable explain how an outsider can beat the establishment GOP in that scenario? Clue me in (and everyone else whose heard the phrase, but has no idea how it actually works).
Palin would have huge congressional coattails, but I’m not sure Newt could do that.
Lately I have read where America needs heroes..wt*?...so, my thoughts go to Mister NOOT, Santorum, Sarah, Tim Tebow, and/or Gerald Lin, of the NY Knickerbockers, as the likely heroes. Remember how powerful the Tea Party was in ‘10? Now, we are still p*ssed, and our ears are turned back as we head to victory in ‘12, if we have Mister Noot, Santorum, Sarah, and/or Paul Ryan as our candidate(s). I cannot find myself endured to Santorum, but because the Doctor or Democracy supports him, so shall I. No more rinos, please.
Not as long as he is careful to always stand next to Wrong Paul. Paul looks like he could have one final spasm and pass away at any moment.
Romney and Santorum are evil and dumb dork vs evil, while Ron paul would be inept vs evil. Newt would be loose zipper vs evil closet queer.
You hit it on the nose. The daydreaming here at FR that someone other that the candidates with delegates are going to to quite the convention even if the first ballot fails is almost impossible. Most of the delegates are either chosen by their guy to represent them or are going to be GOP state party grandees who will do the party’s bidding. Palin will have zero people in her corner nor will Bush, Daniels or anyone else.
Right now, I root for Newt, but I can also support Sarah!
Santorum is the one that wouldn’t last long in office; the reason for his sweaters is his chronic pnuemonia.
If G.W. Bush can be elected twice then I don’t see Santorum would be such a pushover. I’m not worried about Santorum’s electability. I just think Newt would make a better president. Romney’s electability I would be worried about since the guy is so unlikable, makes so many horrible alienating gaffes to anyone not making over 100 grand a year, and has no campaign strategy other than to attack, attack, attack, which cannot work when your opponent is going to be able to outspend you. Positive always beats negative on an equal playing field.
>> “Not this crap again.” <<
.
Yep, you’re here ‘til you get the Zot.
.
Hum.
If that is the case, how does Ron Paul enjoy the support he has, I wonder.
In all seriousness, I hope Newt’s troubles do not boil down to his looks, I would be shocked if people are that superficial. He isn’t the best looking guy I’ve ever seen, no doubt, and certainly not a perfect human being, but I do have to give the man credit for his mind.
Why not? Didn’t Newt basically invent Republican coattails in 1994 on a massive scale? The only problem would be these GOP wusses refusing to enthusiastically back him. They would suffer the same fate Romney did in 1994 when he refused to endorse the Contract with American and lost his Senate race by 17 points.
Palin never had high negatives, that was all “talking point” nonsense. She pulled a steady 42-48% of the GOP when there were 8 or 9 potential candidates.
