February 14th, 2012 Poll Shows Rick Santorum Leading GOP Race In Tennessee
Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has scheduled a trip to Tennessee next week while a poll indicates Rick Santorum is now leading in the state despite his lack of a campaign organization within the state.
The American Research Group Inc. poll, involving 600 "likely" Republican voters contacted by telephone Feb. 8-9, found Santorum favored by 34 percent, followed by Mitt Romney (27 percent), Gingrich (16 percent) and Ron Paul (13 percent).

Santorum is moving up. Some say he’s not electable. I think he would beat 0bama.
I’ve heard from a lot of people here in East Tennessee who are excited about Santorum’s rise.

It is getting hard to follow all the states that Rick is significantly up in. I am wondering if the wildfire Rick started might be too much for the Milt smear machine to handle all at once.
I’m for Newt and didn’t think TN would be in play by now. Guess I’m glad Romney didn’t seal the deal yet.
Hmmmm, I’m going to have to do some thinking between Newt and Rick.
Let me help you. Newt believes in Global Warming, Rick does NOT. Anyone who promotes that fraud is not what we need.
Not that simple. Newt was being a typical politician and, thinking it was inevitable (sad to think that at the start) wanted to be sure “cap and trade” wasn’t rammed down our throats. I do hate when the GOP acts like that though but I get it.
No different than Rick jumping on the establisment bandwagon and backing earmarks and Specter, among other things, when he was “told” to do so by senate leadership and Bush.
It’s a long list of pros and cons with both and I’m still weighing my decision beyond NO ROMNEY!

Fair estimation. Finally, an honest Newt supporter. I think electability and fewer deviations from basic conservatism pts Santorum above Newt. However, I will always consider Newt a hero of sorts.
This entire matter is “heartless”
but he did support cap and trade

ari-freedom, thanks for your link to pbs interview with Newt on global warming... that, combined with Nancy on the couch thing, and his past as an “enviromental studies” professor, make me really think that he would quite likely betray the anti-AGWers and the anti-treehuggers
I’ve been kind of undecided. Now I say go with Santorum. Consolidate with an anti-Romney. Mainly it is that he is coming on strong with his anti-Obama rhetoric. Much better, or at least more consistent (performance wise), than Newt. And he forcefully expresses what the heart of the fall election will be about: FREEDOM. (Not [solely] the economy, or some other thing of minor importance.)

And his “Made in the USA Plan” whatever will be a winner in the upcoming election, who cares about the economics of it, which are fine (need domestic manufacturing for natl security, also). His appeal to Joe the Plumber types, and the working man, and the industrial states, is huge.
Finally, I assume Santorum will excite the base in a major way. Romney is reported to be having money problems (hotair). Romney may raise an inadequate $300 million, but with an excited base, tons of small and large donations will flow to Santorum, yielding $1 billion or more. This type of money will be -required- to beat Obama.
Spector was a supporter of Santorum. That was no different than Sarah supporting Capt. Queeg in his last campaign. Loyalty is very important in politics. That is far more forgivable than being a mouthpiece of global warming one of the biggest frauds ever perpetrated by the Left.
I will vote for Newt against the Commie any day of the week in any case. But he is just too damaged by his personal life to get the nomination. The dumb comments do not bother me that much but the public is not accepting of Republicans with a checkered martial life. Santorum, on the other hand, is a Boy Scout and cannot be attacked in that area. The Left will have to attack him on policy which will make it clear that he is a solid conservative.
Santorum can’t take the South or win in southern states... Sarcasm.. at least that is what the Newt supporter would have us believe.
How about when Newt was for individual mandates on one day and then a few days later was against it back in May of last year ?
One suspect issue and you got it all figured out. Wait until all eyes are on Rick before jumping to the conclusion - there have been more worrisome claims against him than any I heard for Newt and while you can't take them to the bank (I'm sure you wouldn't - but you will take thosae against Newt for deposit) there is likely to be a balance between what is true and what is not, along with a few surprises.
