NBC News ignores Gunwalker, continues anti-gun propaganda agenda
Gun Rights Examiner ^ | 10 February, 2012 | David Codrea

“The gunwalking story has never been mentioned on either NBC Nightly News or the Today show,” Geoffrey Dickens reports in a Feb. 8 Media Research Center “Reality Check” piece.

Perhaps that’s not quite fair. After all, MSNBC’s “Politics Nation” with Al Sharpton gave Rep. Elijah Cummings unchallenged time to make his case that the congressional Fast and Furious investigation is an “election-year witch hunt” against Eric Holder by Republicans, gunwalking was George Bush’s fault, and the real problem is we need more gun control.

So leave it to “Today” to send “national investigative correspondent” Jeff Rossen to Phoenix of all places, and rather than say word one about Gunwalker, instead perform the same sham straw purchase media stunt that’s already gotten no traction when unabashed anti-gun activists pulled it. And note they always do it where it’s nice and safe, and no real illegal transfers actually get recorded, as opposed to going undercover where they’ll meet real “dangerous criminals” and terrorists, like on domestic urban gang turf, or better yet, in Ciudad Juárez.

The truth of the matter: There are no “internet gun sales.” Sure. people can advertise there, just as they can in newspaper classified ads, but the transactions take place in person and federal law already states prohibited persons can’t buy guns, prohibits interstate sales without federal firearms licensees processing transfers, and if a private seller knows or has reason to believe a buyer may not legally purchase a gun, they may not lawfully proceed with the sale. It’s right there in U.S. Code.

If anything ever showed the Pravda-like nature of the MSM, this does.

The concept that the government could or should only “allow” certain people to buy guns stands the very concept of American jurisprudence on its head. It presumes that the government knows all, controls all, and should be doing so. It is wrong and ineffective. It is the opposite of preventing criminals from possessing guns.

It is crazy to set up a huge expensive bureaucratic system, require everyone to jump though hoops and prove that they are *not* criminals in order to try, ineffectively, to prevent the few individuals who are not responsible, from having legal access to guns. This is a failed paradigm, and it should be abandoned. To accept the idea that the all gun sales should be monitored by the government, and only allowed to those it deems satisfactory is fundamentally wrong.

The entire idea of the enterprise has always been the death of a thousand cuts, where the restrictions on who can buy, and where, and how and what are continually increased until the number of gun owners is reduced to political insignificance.

The left makes a foolish plan. They get caught doing it. They they continue like no one saw them doing it. Then Congress sits there with only one or two saying it is a crime.

Our elected Republican congressional “leaders

When did anyone ever get the idea that Republicans were pro gun? They're not. Even the much touted Reagan signed anti-gun legislation into law.

I work with some Rats who constantly claimed that F&F or something like started under Bush. Anyone have any links/articles that a) show what enables them to make that claim,& b) What refutes that claim?

I want to be able to point to basic sources.

Wide receiver was very different. No guns ever crossed the border and there were tracing protocols. There was never a deliberate policy to lose guns.

Fast n furious was a deliberate policy to lose guns over the border.

Another difference is that under wide reciever we worked w Mexico. In fast n furious we never told Mexico

Many many many differences, don’t let the demo commies fool you.

When I as a boy it was perfectly legal to purchase guns through the mail. Sears, Wards and other catalog outlets sold them freely. There was no more crime then then there is now. The difference is that law abiding citizens may not exercise their god given rights to purchase weapons for self defense.

It wasn't until after JFK was shot, supposedly with a mail order rifle, that mail order sales were banned. There was no decrease in the amount of murders, armed robberies or other crimes in which guns were used, but that didn't stop the government from enacting more and more gun laws in order to disarm the law abiding.

Thankfully, despite the effort of the anti-gun MSM and others, we are making inroads on getting many of those rights restored.

Bush had a program, but his program required that the guns actually be tracked in order to nail the cartel members buying them. When it was found out that tracking them was impossible the Bush administration called a halt. They did NOT let thousands of guns go across the border and into the cartel's hands. This is a typical dimwit trick, take something similar that the Republicans did and try to put the blame on them.

Even if Bush had done a gun walking program, which he didn't, it wouldn't make the one Bozo's crew was doing ok.
