Despite a nine to nothing Supreme Court ruling against the Obama Administration last month in which the court ruled that a church decides who its leaders should be and not a government gone wild, the Obama Administration is back at it.
This time the administration is telling Catholics that in their various organizations they can't observe ancient church teachings on sexuality and procreation. That is bad. But it gets worse.
They have sent out their apologists in government and media to convince Catholics that government teachings about CHURCH beliefs are correct, and that the Catholic Church is a bit out of step. Nancy Pelosi has gone so far as to say that the Catholic Church is not anti-abortion and that she "stands" with her fellow Catholics on this issue. USA Today says that Catholic women stand with the Obama Administration. CNN says that most Catholics don't stand with their bishops.
The battleground is certainly contraceptive and abortion services, but make no mistake about the war. This is leftist government versus religion. It is not hard to imagine Moscow versus Wojtyla.
And it's not hard for this protestant pastor to realize that socialist humanism is attempting a huge power grab against our Roman Catholic brethren. This should be a wake-up call for even marginal Catholics...and even for marginal Christians of any variety. What kind of churches will we have if the government can interpret its teachings? What freedom of religion do we have if the government can dictate how we practice our religion?
This is clearly a time to fight, and Roman Catholic leaders are fighting.
We must pray for them, for them to be guided by the Almighty, for them to be victorious in this struggle.
Hear our prayer, O Lord.
Excellent thesis; absolutely on target. Thank you.
“In China, the government picks the Christian leaders. Obama admires the Chinese.”
You said a mouthful. And next on the administration’s agenda...
