Super Bowl I Halftime Show, 1967. Note the size of the crowd. USC's Mudd Tower can be seen in the background to the right, and the LA County Natural History Museum is to the left.
Marching band - what a novel idea!
I started taking my son to high school games this year with those marching bands. Love it.
They used to. I think Grambling was at the first two, and the USMC was at one.
Thats one of the things I like about the college game. You have a band and cheerleaders and the crowd who seem to be in with the flow of the game. In the pros, it just seems more stale. All the music is from the big speakers (and for some reason everyone thinks they need to play Crazy Train at the opening kickoff). The cheerleaders are just dancers, and the fans are so far away from the action. That said, I still like the NFL for the actual football part of it.
I remember watching that game in the basement of our fraternity house on a small black and white tv.
This year I’m right in the middle of all the hype here in Indianapolis.
I second that motion! And here is one reason why.
I’m with you Fiji...bring back half-time bands and card displays and get rid of the yapping “experts” who for some reason feel they have to tell us what just happened.
Went to the Boise State - Air Force game in Boise...great half time show.
...should feature marching bands for their halftime shows.
