Over at Hot Air, Wolf Howling penned a comment that perfectly sums up my feelings about the Florida primary.
Ive spent the last few weeks watching Romney run the most intellectually dishonest campaign against Gingrich that I could imagine. Romney isnt making the case that he has a better conservative pedigree, nor that his vision for America is superior or more conservative than Gingrichs. He spent 17 million doing nothing but trying to delegitimize and demonize Gingrich with gross distortions of history. I havent seen anything like this since what the left did to Sarah Palin. And the last time anything like this occurred in the Republican Party, it was the cannibalization of Goldwater in 1964.
For the past two decades in which I have been politically informed and active, I have always believed that the single starkest difference between the left and the right was intellectual honesty. We on the right had it while those on the left dealt mostly in demagoguery and demonization. We on the right were ever willing to debate the facts, those on the left were ever willing to cherry pick the facts, distort the facts, and then use the race card or its many variants to end debate. To use the words of Bookworm Room: Conservatives deal with facts and reach conclusions; liberals have conclusions and sell them as facts. That illusion is now shattered.
At this point, I wouldnt vote for Romney for dog catcher even if he was running in a three way race against Lenin and Marx. I will support Republican candidates for Congress and the Senate. But I could not, at this point, vote for any man as scurrilous and underhanded as Romney for President.
Meant to ping you to #120.
Thx.
Romney and his fellow mormons WILL have a real "come to Jesus" moment...and it won't be what they expected!
Matthew 7:23 "Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!"

There is a choice for me I won’t vote for EVIL just because there is an R after his name. I’m writing in Newt IF he doesn’t get the nomination. I happen to think there is a big chance that Newt can and will get the nomination, but if that Blasphemous Heretic Robamney gets it Newt still gets my vote.
“Romney might be a status quo president. I dont like him. But if it came to a choice ... THERE IS NO CHOICE.”
Wow, I agree. RINOmney is no choice at all!
Well, if a third party conservative runs, there will be a valid choice...
And I understand that like me, you would rather see Romney OUT of the picture altogether, that the possibility of being asked to choose between him and Obama is the last thing you'd want.
Your nicely written post lists all good reasons to reject Obama, but with the possible exception of the Iran/Israel question (though I doubt very much that Romney would ever be a passionate supporter of Israel), Romney would promote the same outcome -- socialized medicine certainly, as well as nominating uber-liberals to the Supreme Court (do a little research on his activist liberal judge appointments in Massachusetts -- it's shocking).
Judging by his past, he'd be the same as Obama as far as thwarting the use of our own natural resources in the name of "saving the planet" -- in his 2008 CPAC speech, he said that any carbon plan needed to be worldwide in scope, that the solution had to be world-wide, not simply American -- meaning that he LIKES the idea of having other nations dictate to we Americans how we produce and consume energy. Illegals on the border, I'll leave it to you to trust him on that; I for one don't at all, and I also know that controlling the borders is a band-aid fix for a much deeper problem connected to minimum wage (which he supports, along with Santorum) and entitlement programs.
As for the military, remember that there is ZERO record of any Romney ever serving in uniform. Not Mitt himself, nor any member of his family, going back for something like four generations. NOT ONE Romney male has ever fought for his country. That, to me, confirms born-and-bred contempt for American military, and it is a sign we had better heed.
You're right about him being status-quo -- status quo to Obama.
... people who care about their country more than about their great insights and purity ...
Mine are not "great insights." They are observations of the uncomfortable, tempting-to-ignore, obvious. And as for purity ... altura ...
... altura!!!! Altura, snap out of it! Romney has demonstrably promoted, with all the power of his political office, such depraved evil as promoting embrace of open homosexuality among children -- and THAT IS A FACT.
Describing those like me who refuse to have any part of putting such a person in power as "purists" is indicative of extreme desperation on your part. Evil begets evil. NO MATTER HOW YOU RATIONALIZE VOTING FOR ROMNEY, a vote for Romney would be a vote to BEGET EVIL.
Between Obama and Romney, there is no "lesser evil." They are both equally catastrophic. I've got enough to ask God's forgiveness for -- voting to put a person who leads children so perversely astray is going against the God I love and trust, and I fear justifiably that He would bring severe judgment on "good" people who would allow their fear to make them endorse such clear and obvious evil.
Godspeed Newt Gingrich.
Mitt’s Achilles heel, what he is most sensitive about, is his puppet-master, the Morman Church.
I believe they will do (and have done) ANYTHING to place Mitt in the White House.
Yep. And you know my opinion that the Mormon question is too politically incorrect even for conservatives and Republicans to talk about. I wish it was OUR SIDE that was investigating the Mormon question, not the left! But our side is too cowed to political correctness.
We know how Islam regards Israel. How does the Mormon Church regard Israel? Does anyone have any input on that question?
Good question!
Mesta?
mormons are the only “true” Jews. They baptize dead Jews and claim them as their family and ancestors. Google mormon baptism of Jews. It’s sickening. And they posthumously baptize other religions as well. THEY inherit Israel.
There's something WAY WAY WAY creepy about baptizing after death.
Being a Jew, I have always been of the mind to live and let live. There are times when I am tempted to criticize, but I usually manage to refrain because there are so many things I disagree with within how different sects interpret Judaism that I have my own problems.
I don’t consider islam a religion at all.
As for mormonism, I didn’t honestly pay that much attention to. But the more I learn about it, the less I trust it as a real religion. It is more about conquering, as is islam, than it is about spirituality.
He spent 17 million doing nothing but trying to delegitimize and demonize Gingrich with gross distortions of history. In his defense, Romney has accomplished what I thought was impossible -- get me rooting for Newt Gingrich.
