A month ago -when the Republican primary contest began to get ugly- it already seemed intra-party chasms that developed over this cycle would be taking some time to heal. We all still assumed that 'anybody but Obama' would get us together in the end, though...yet no longer: there's simply no dealing with the self-serving syndicate that's re-written history and gang-raped Newt Gingrich just to stick us with some fake conservative scumbag. The TEA Party movement is on the verge of extinction if we fail to go on the offensive- and I mean now.
The same ones trashing Gingrich are also shielding the voters from Willard's many dubious dealings, but who would expect the MSM/Left to be quite so helpful come the fall. And don't talk about money, either... Obama's got more... much more! Since Romney has no leg to stand on but well-financed politics of destruction (and he's not all that different from the incumbent) as GOP nominee he would enjoy no notable advantages in November.
If we could take anything positive from such a catastrophe, perhaps it would be the future ability to bring conservatives to power in this country to deal with whatever ashes remain in 2016.
But if they do manage to make Romney the Republican nominee against the majority of the party's wishes -which most punters still see to be the most likely outcome- we must face some grim realities:
This is the type of manipulation/denial of basic democratic rights that stokes the flames of revolution: I advocate a peaceful revolution to destroy the Republican Party establishment, if not the party in it's entirety (if it cannot be conquered). This can be brought about by denying Romney votes (and the White House) while boycotting all the politicians and pundits that enabled it.
Of course you will. Just consider the source(s) and then choose you future course of action. I discount the opinions and analyses of "blame the voter" posters. They are of course free to have their opinions.
My opinion is that when a party loses a race, it's the party's fault.
The bottom line is Mittens is unelectable.
I refuse to accept any blame. The blame falls squarely on the shoulders of the GOP Establishment.
The GOP and their hit people in the media have decided romney is THEIR choice and if anyone goes against them, they will be destroyed. They cheated Rick Santorum out of his momentum and only gave him Iowa after a caucus worker went to the media and told them romney only had 2 votes in that county not 22. Now they expect us to believe 8 counties lost all their ballots and they still don't know who won them. I'm sure they will turn up when romney needs them to win. They pushed mccain on us last time and the only reason many people voted for him was because of Sarah. So this is our future with the RNC, they pick our president and they throw us a bone by giving us a conservative VP. We keep moving left with the nominees as we watch leftist countries like Greece self-destruct? Romney has shown he will do anything to anyone who gets in his way-Alinsky tactics. How are these people different then Obama?
Election officials were mystified Thursday as to how Iowa caucus results from two North Iowa counties were not accounted for in the certified results. State Republican party officials announced the certified results of the Jan. 3 caucuses showed former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum with a 34-vote edge over former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney. Original results showed Romney as the winner by eight votes. State party officials said they did not have totals from eight precincts, including Ward 2, precinct 3 in northwest Mason City and Geneva/Reeve in Franklin County. John Rowe, Cerro Gordo County Republican chairman, said he did not know how the Mason City precinct totals were missing and didnt want to point any fingers. What is missing is Form E which is a signed copy of the vote totals that were phoned in on caucus night, he said. I sent in a foot-tall box full of forms from Cerro Gordo County for certification. There were two Form As, Form B, Form C, Form D and Form E from each precinct and there was other required paperwork as well. Out of all the forms we were required to send in, Form E is the only one that wasnt in triplicate, said Rowe. Its unfortunate. It was probably a human error on one end or the other. I dont like it being described as a `missing precinct. This was a very transparent process. Rowe said there are more than 1,700 precincts in the state and only eight were unaccounted for in the final tabulation. If my son took a physics test and got 99 percent, wed be slapping him on the back, he said. Karen Zander, Republican chairwoman in Franklin County, said she doesnt know how one of her precincts was unaccounted for. She said there were 19 voters in the precinct. Bill Schickel of Mason City, vice chairman of the state Republican party, agreed. The precinct totals would not have changed the outcome of the election, he said. This is a volunteer, grassroots-driven process. I feel badly that some precinct results were not certified. There is no perfect election. But having eight precincts uncertified out of more than 1,700 is a better certification rate than ever before, he said. Were not perfect. But this wasnt anything like other states have had, like the dangling chads in Florida. John Skipper, Mason City Globe-Gazette UPDATED: Mitt Romney got 20 fewer votes in Moulton precinct, Appanoose County GOP chairman says JASON CLAYWORTH 10:57 AM, Jan 6, 2012 Categories: Caucus Insider Covering Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich More posts by Jason Clayworth Print/Email NOTE: An earlier version of this blog incorrectly reported which numbers Appanoose County GOP chairman Lyle Brinegar believes are accurate. The numbers he referenced as accurate earlier today are those sworn in the affidavit by Moulton resident Edward True. Mitt Romney received 20 fewer votes than are reported from a Moulton precinct in numbers posted by the Republican Party of Iowa, the Appanoose County GOP chairman said today. The final vote between Iowa caucuses winner Mitt Romney was eight ahead of Rick Santorum. We stand by the figures that were presented by the Moulton precinct caucus, said Lyle Brinegar, chairman of the Appanoose County GOP. Matt Strawn, chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa, continued to express confidence Friday that the order of finish will not change. He said the party would make no further comment until its two-week vote certification process is complete. Moulton resident Edward True has signed an affidavit saying that he helped count the vote at the Garrett Memorial Library in Moulton and that the precinct had two votes for Romney, not 22, as reported online by the state GOP. Brinegar says True is correct. Im not disputing what Ed True said, Brinegar said. Appanoose County has 12 caucus precincts. All but two had no votes or single-digit votes for Romney, while one had 20 votes and the Moulton site reported 22. Drake University political science professor Dennis Goldford said the results even if the certification reveals a different answer will change little other than bragging rights. Santorum, who for months remained in the single digits in polls, wildly beat expectations, and that is the real story, Goldford said. The caucuses dont result in an actual election, so theres no additional harm done in terms of having to eject a candidate from a position, Goldford noted. However, there is potential for long-term consequences regarding the credibility of the Iowa caucuses, Goldford warned. It reinforces the view from other states that the Iowa caucuses are this unreliable, amateurish event, Goldford said. By cutting off that nose, I'll be amputating a diseased limb that if left alone could kill this nation. The GOP needs major reform or we need a third party. Either way it's not happening if we conservatives act like good soldiers and vote Romney. Something has to change.
McCain wasn’t enough?
The same holds true even if Romney is not nominated!!!
They gave us one choice in 08’, McCain gave us Obama. They are allowing us one choice again, romney, and the results, whether he wins or loses, will still be Obama. So unless, something miraculous happens, we have Obama for another four and if Romney is elected we have Obama for potentially another eight. So I say let’s take our chances with Obama for only four.
Oh, absolutely! It's a great flag, a great message, and I proudly fly that flag in front of my house.
I realize I'm probably being overly picky, but since I actually live in Culepeper County, Virginia, that particular spelling error jumps right out at me whenever I see it.
PS - There really are flag makers out there who fail to spell Culpeper correctly on their versions of this flag (mostly imports); but the folks at Carrot-Top Industries sell very high quality, 'Made in U.S.A.', copies of the "Culpeper Minutemen" flag.
Agreed.
Gangrenous body parts NEED to be cut off, even noses...
No Romney, no compromise. I won’t vote for him.
You can blame me if Oblahblah gets another four years, and I’ll simply point out that fools propped up Romney knowing that a MAJORITY of the conservative voters would not vote for him. They know this now, and they still are desperately trying to put Romney in there. If they do force him in as the nom, I will vote. I will simply leave the top of the ticket blank and vote the ticket down. But I will not pull the lever for that lying POS.
A good read.
I’m a Santorum supporter, but no one is forcing Romney on us. It’s a nominating process, we get a chance to vote. For every coulter pushing for Mitt, there is a Levin or Rush pushing for Newt. I understand being 100% for your guy during the primary process but if, if Mitt is the nominee and you say there’s no difference between Romney and Obama you’re either not paying attention or are stubborn and butthurt.
:)
Who do you mean by “they”? Primary voters? If “they” are successful in getting Romney as the nominee?
What method would you prefer to be utilized to pick the GOP nominee if not by votes in primaries?
I AGREE: THE REPUBLICAN PARTY MUST BE KILLED; if they force Romney on us.
>> I actually live in Culepeper County <<
Spell-check is your friend.
More to the point, who IS the "Republican Establishment". It's not just a handful of people in the RNC -- it's tens of thousands of party officials and politicians in every little district across the country. They are the ones who benefit from the government being a mess (because they are the ones called upon by business owners and private citizens to fix problems that the broken government creates). It's a big organization to take over.
