When will Brit Hume make it official and endorse Mitt Romney?
Or is he more effective behind the Fox News Network banner being "Fair and Balanced?"
Just as Fox News was about to sign off last night, Brit Hume listed the positives and negatives of the 4 candidates [Newts negatives are high].
After reporting those "intensity numbers," Brit Hume closed the show by saying [paraphrased] "Every GOP candidate, up and down the ticket, running for election in 2012, will do everything in their power to make sure Newt Gingrich isnt the nominee."
That is how Brit Hume chose to close Fox New's reporting of a BIG Gringrich sweep of South Carolina -- on the eve of a Gingrich-Romney battle, as the campaigns move into Florida looking for campaign money and votes to keep battling forward.
Do you think Brit Hume's comments will give donors pause? Depress Newt's electability? I found it appalling. But not surprising -- especially in light of their treatment of the GOP Primary field to date.
Such jealously.....!
Good for you on the donation. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but my finger is starting to "itch" about it.
I am writing this a bit late in the thread, so it will be a long scrolldown and few will probably read it; but I have a couple of theories about Brit's thoughts toward Newt:
1) Brit got his start in the big time as an underling to Jack Anderson, who was a Mormon. That could have the effect of inoculating him against any misgivings on that account, and might even endear him to a Mormon candidate. Not too sure about that one.
2) I seem to remember that Brit's son, just new to the reporting biz, had broken a story on rumblings and rumors about a House revolt against Newt. Not long afterward, the young reporter, Hume's son, had committed suicide. The two events may have had nothing in common; but the mere association of proximity in time probably still sits in Brit's stomach like a lead brick of pain and sorrow. Maybe so, maybe not; but worth considering.
We need to clean up -- up and down the ballot - rout these Obama-Pelosi-Reed LIBERALS out of office.
Rick Perry said he will go state by state to get people elected that want to shrink the Federal government. He will do it "ugly." That was how he put it during the Rick Perry Interview with NH Union Leader.
What the GOP establishment doesn't understand is, the voters don't give a sh!t what they think. They tried to cram down Romney on us and it didn't work.
Eff the establishment!
Let’s have fun with Faux’s “Fair and Balanced” slogan. I’ve been thinking lately that “Bullsh!t and Biased” might be closer.
Fair might still work in terms of excellence. Faux isnt fantastic, not outstanding, not excellent, great or good. Not even pretty good...just fair.
You are 100% right on all of your points.
Me too. In spite of being less liberal than other networks, I realized that they were all hype, all the time. I haven't missed it.
Yes..it is glaringly obvious. I'll up that one..even Beck, who I have to pay extra now to have him profit from my intellectual property, had his staff push Romney for an entire week while he was out with a backache.
There is a code..and it is exactly like it was in grade school..people feel safer going with someone who they see others picking as the winner. They gravitate to "safely in numbers". If a candidate can pay enough people to support you, you will be the one picked because of the old "code".
Well the people do not want Count ROMNERT SKerry! Get his sinister conceit out of our face!
I may not always like what Hume has to say, but over the years I think he has been on the money more often than not, so he always bears a listen.
Hume, Barone, and Cook are the top three political analysts in the game now, IMO.
You are to be commended for your staunch support for Perry. In hindsight, I think many are going to regret not giving him a second look. And who knows, maybe he’ll come back on the scene in time with better laid groundwork and support.
If you, as a candidate, can pay enough people to support you, in the end you will be the one picked because of the old "code".
I couldn’t stomach Fox last night. I watched CNN..They had some guy named forman who had undecided FL Republican Voters hooked up to rate their responses to the various speeches.
By the end of the night, most had decided for Newt.
As much as I can’t stand James Carville, and Donna Brazille, I find them to be more genuine than some of the fox team..
The truly funny thing was when Piers Morgan interviewed Gingrich’s daughters and asked about John King’s attack on their Dad regarding Marianne G’s claims..afterwards Wolf Blitzer was practically apopleptic “correcting” Piers that it wasn’t an attack, but a legitimate question. Blitzer was funny, kinda stuttering and bumbling.
They also had Erick Erikson of Red State, and he talked about getting word that the GOP elites were going to funnel money to Santorum to try to dilute support for Gingrich.
Carville was honest that we would hear allegations about Newt in FL, and anything dirty that the Romney camp could dig up about him..that new allegations about Newt’s private life would be 24/7.
I agree....! We need men like Rick....!
Thank you.....!
How ‘bout “Spare and Imbalanced”.
Yeah he was Unelectable in South Carolina a Week ago too
Yeah he was Unelectable in South Carolina a Week ago too
The gaggle of text readers at Fox have been against Newt and for Romney from day one.
Right now Obama has the most money, that is a fact.
If the people do not get completely behind one candidate and flood him with money right now, Obama will win. Unfair, wrong, despicable...you bet..but reality.
Pick one guy..now, before Florida or forever hold your peace, cause if it goes to convention..the evil foreign wallets will come out from every rat hole on the planet all at once and the professional financiers will be ready with their ready made banks and promotional markets to collect...and we know who has those connections...Romney.
Brit Hume covered the WH and Washington from his young years and was a pleasure to watch because of his fairness. He witnessed the conservative takeover of the republican party by goldwater’s minions and the result of that years ago. This really is a fight for control of the party, and lots of people are concerned for the house and senate; Brit is just telling you what the talk is in Washington.
