When will Brit Hume make it official and endorse Mitt Romney?
Or is he more effective behind the Fox News Network banner being "Fair and Balanced?"
Just as Fox News was about to sign off last night, Brit Hume listed the positives and negatives of the 4 candidates [Newts negatives are high].
After reporting those "intensity numbers," Brit Hume closed the show by saying [paraphrased] "Every GOP candidate, up and down the ticket, running for election in 2012, will do everything in their power to make sure Newt Gingrich isnt the nominee."
That is how Brit Hume chose to close Fox New's reporting of a BIG Gringrich sweep of South Carolina -- on the eve of a Gingrich-Romney battle, as the campaigns move into Florida looking for campaign money and votes to keep battling forward.
Do you think Brit Hume's comments will give donors pause? Depress Newt's electability? I found it appalling. But not surprising -- especially in light of their treatment of the GOP Primary field to date.
Newt needs to get SS protection, yesterday.
I just love the backlash against the media across the board.
“Newt Gingrich routed Mitt Romney in South Carolina because he routed the media first. A Public Policy Polling survey of likely South Carolina primary voters completed on Friday revealed that 77 percent said they had an unfavorable opinion of the media. Among the most conservative South Carolina primary voters, fully 89 percent had an unfavorable opinion of the media. The same poll showed Gingrich beating Romney in the primary, 37 percent to 28 percent fairly close to the actual outcome.
Conservatives not only resent the liberal media for trying to pick the Republican nominee (n.b. the media prefer Romney) but they also resent Republican politicians who, once elected, spend their careers appeasing the media while abandoning conservative principles (n.b. the supine leadership of the Republican party in the House of Representatives). Conservatives want a president whose attitude toward the media matches the attitude Gingrich has shown in recent debates. A president with that kind of attitude, they hope, might actually govern as a conservative.”.................

I would imagine he has protection, if not the SS then some other private group.
None of us knew the fella. But you just can't leave a dead man you find, rotting in the sun. We each took turns diggin him a makeshift grave. When we were finished, I held the horses reins, and we stood around the grave.
"Shouldn't we say a few words?" asked Pete.
We all stood there for about five minutes, thinkin what we could say. It was hot. Flies were starting to bug us.
"Well," offered Sam, "At least he died in Texas."
That was good enough. We all got on our horses and rode.
Hume has been a Romney cheerleader for a while now. I thought he actually endorsed Romney back in early December on the O’Reilly Factor but, after re-watching the clip, he stopped just short.
Hume has lost ALL objectivity as a political analyst this campaign cycle.
Stuart Varney (unfortunately) endorsed Romney a while back but at least has retained a bit of objectivity in his commentary. Hume could learn something from Varney.
Why stop at Britt??? All pundits at FoxNews have their respective noses up Romney’s butt!
“I think it was Brit Hume who said it was about 10 minutes too long”
I think it was Brit. I don’t get the support for Romney. (Nobody mentioned that Ron Paul’s speech was so long, grueling, and boring that it made your hair hurt.)
My cell phone rang. "Unknown" said the caller ID.
Thought about letting it pass, but I answered it.
"Alan, this is Rick Perry."
..
They just don't like Newt, and apparently they don't like 75% of Republican voters either.
“...Newt has a well-earned reputation as a brilliant but undisciplined and at times erratic egomaniac. There are former GOP House members who still seethe over Newt’s reckless conduct as Speaker...”
Do you really think I give a damn that Newts fabulous colleagues think his reemergence would be a disaster for Republicans? No. The elections of 2010 were NOT a merit promotion; the Republicans were the only alternative in town!
...After only four years with his Party still in power, his own members forced him out...
Oh yeah, and many of those Republicans are still in Congress. They are part of the ongoing problem of business as usual in Washignton, D.C. Under a Republican president, they added over $3 trillion to the federal deficit, shunned conservative policy in favor of Beltway influence-peddling, and so damaged the GOP brand that we lost the majority Gingrich had worked years to forge.
Newt Gingrich was forced out because he exposed corruption and expected discipline in the ranks. He forced out Jim Wright, one of the most corrupt House Speakers ever to serve in the House of Representatives.
You better believe there are Congressional polticians pooping in their silk panties this very moment! Newt intends on changing Washington.
He has done more to put Ronald Reagan’s conservative policies into government practice than anyone else presently running for the Republican Party presidential nominee position. I usually ignore endorsements, as theyre generally quid pro quo arrangements, but Gingrich is now endorsed by Michael Reagan, Art Laffer, and numerous other former Reagan administration officials.
He is being denigrated because he is a Conservative, period.
I’m sure it can ultimately be traced back to Ailes.
Who is more “establishment Republican” than Roger?
I heard that on F&F too.
But isn’t Daniels’ wife completely opposed to such a run?
My guess is that if there is any “replacing” to go on it will happen at a deadlocked convention.
Just look to last yrs. elections, the “TEA PARTY AIN’T” dumb. They aren’t gonna let the media choose their candidate.
The TEA PARTY is “GRASSROOTS” and the media, while being a factor, isn’t dealing with the same electorate it was four yrs. again. The TEA PARTY has deep, deep disdain for Obama and what he is doing to our country. They are motivated and they will vote.
The news media and establishment politicans, both parties, for some “ungodly” reason, are still having this love affair with Barak Hussein Obama. They are too naive to realize most folks despise Obama and everything he stands for. Beam me up, I don’t understand it. They continue telling us he is well liked by most of the voters. Poppycock.....! Just look at the last election. Obama and his party was decimated at the polls....HELLO NEWS MEDIA........HELLO BRITT HUME....HELLO, ANY THING UP THERE.....!
Just now on F&F, Alyson had the temerity to say that Hume’s conclusions about Newt were “wrong,” that the SC results proved otherwise.
I was watching Hume right after the polls closed and he was badmouthing Gingrich saying only Romney has the appeal and the staying power— yada yada yada... Sorry Brit, Romney was crushed.
“Unfortunately, Hume is correct. On the numbers, Newt is at present very near unelectable, while Romney polls well in a general election.”
LOL, So So naive. You need to turn off ur tv and go visit real people. Have u forgotten the lsat elections? Obama and his policies were trounced, that election was all about him....Period...!
NO MATTER who runs against Obama, he’s beat. The news media, the liberals, his money, the race card, all these things want work this time. Most Americans abhor him and detest everything he stands for. The elections in 2010 proved it....Obama’s reign will end in 2012.
I was very disappointed in him last night. He’s becoming another “Uncle Walter”.
