A week ago, this South Carolina Primary overview would have been a lot easier to write: Mitt Romney was ahead of the nearest competitor by double-digits and things seemed poised for another victory for the perpetual front-runner. Then Newt Gingrich issued a knockout to the rest of the contenders in Mondays FOX News Debate and everything was uphill for the Speaker from there. Sarah Palin kind-of endorsed him, Rick Perry dropped out and firmly endorsed him, and Newt again delivered a homerun performance in Thursdays CNN Debate. A week of shake-ups have sent pollsters into a tailspin, with some showing Gingrich up as many as 6 points and others showing Romney up as many as 7 points. Check out an extensive look at the race and the candidates to get a better idea of where everyone stands heading into Saturdays South Carolina primary.

Ron Paul is not polling well in the closed primaries which are coming up. He won’t be much of a factor. I doubt Santorum has the money to compete in Fl so its probably Mitt and Newt duking it out for the nomination.
I am with Ron Paul all the way up to foreign policy and then the the cuckoo bird shows up. Too bad because I love what he wants to do to the Fed.
Newt’s the guy for 2012. He will be a fine president if we can get him elected. All this RINO talk has gotten out of hand.
Rick Santorum said Friday he will continue his campaign on into Florida regardless of how he does this weekend in South Carolinas primary, saying the last 24 hours have been so dramatic they could alter the race in fundamental way.
And he said he wants to see how Thursdays other events Texas Gov. Rick Perrys withdrawal from the race, and new allegations of marital and temperament problems with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich play out.

RINO voter Santorum needs to set aside his ego, place his country before himself, drop out and endorse Newt.
I get the impression that if Paul runs 3rd party, he’ll siphon off at least as many zero voters as ‘republican’ voters.
What do you think?
Agreed. Santorum needs to drop out and stop running as a now self-admitted spoiler candidate.
“I get the impression that if Paul runs 3rd party, hell siphon off at least as many zero voters as republican voters”
Yes probably. And way more Libs than Republicans IMO due to his cuckoo foreign policy.
Ron Paul is not a Republican he is a Libertarian that runs as a Republican in order to get elected to the Texas legislature.
Personally I don’t think he will run third party. He will just stay in the presidential race to the end even though he has no chance to win. If he looks like he might bolt then the RNC needs to offer him a speech at the convention or something to keep him on the reservation.
He might refrain from running third party for the sake of his son whose bright future in the Republican Party might be destroyed by Paul getting Obama reelected.
I used to support Rick “SOPA” Santorum...
Not any more! After his recent disgraceful displays I think he is nuttier than RuPaul.
I predict this guy will never again be elected to anything.
Maybe MSNBC will hire him to bash Newt on one of their shows.
“He might refrain from running third party for the sake of his son whose bright future in the Republican Party might be destroyed by Paul getting Obama reelected.”
So true. Another good reason not to go third party.
