At the end of a very long evening - where the tally separating him from Mitt Romney was simply too close to call - the former Senator from Pennsylvania...gave an extraordinary, extemporaneous speech, revealing his tremendous gift of communication. He moved the crowd gathered both before him and people gathered before televisions and computers all over the nation. It was an historic evening and marked the beginning of a new chapter in this 2012 Presidential campaign. He began his remarks by giving thanks...he thanked his beloved wife Karen...and gave her an embrace which left few eyes without tears - in Iowa and throughout America. Next, he thanked God for his friendship. His sincere words revealed the source of the strength of this man. With a humble faith, he expressed deep gratitude to God for the daily grace he receives... Finally, he thanked the people of Iowa; comparing them to the hard working people he grew up with in the coal mining and steel mill areas of Pennsylvania...

Whether or not one is as Conservative as him on Social issues, he is spot on about Islamofacism, and comes off as incredibly decent.
It was an exceptional speech. I was clearly touched by it. I’ve heard Santorum before and he is a gifted speaker. More than that he is a gifted conservative thinker/philosopher who understands intimately the relationship between Life and all other Rights. He understands their source in God. He understands that grace matters.
It’s all in God’s hands. Always was. Let’s see if we are granted a reprieve by the 3 remaining candidates, all of whom profess faith in the historic, Triune God of Christianity.
Life...my right whether some human entity thinks so or not.
but he clearly and decisively won the contest and the admiration of a Nation.
if he can beat Gingrich and Perry in SC he’s off to the races..
I saw Santorum’s speech last night. It was very very good, as Rush has been saying today. From beginning to end, Santorum was speaking my language, especially when speaking about repect for all human life (he was referring to his 3 year old daughter who doctors said would only live a year). I was very impressed by his speech, made without a teleprompter or even notes (except for the Lewis quote).
I can support this man for president.
I was pleased to hear that he spent very little “per vote” as compared to others in the race and still almost won the caucus.
I’ve heard $1.65 and .70 cents as amounts. Compared to Perry and Romney in the $300 per vote range.
This tells me Santorum has grassroots appeal. He sure was appealing to me last night, and I was a Bachmann contributor.
So true...what a pathetic field. So now Santorum is the "conservative choice"? Santorum also benefitted from surging so late that his record is still not well known...yet, on fiscal matters, Santorum is terrible. Rush is trying to paper over the Santorum's issues by pointing out that he's not for big government like Obama and the Democrats are for big government. That's our standard now??...a "true conservative" is someone who is something less than a full blown socialist?
Never mind that Rush once said at the end of GWB's administration that he was "tired of carrying water" for the big government so-called conservatives. He now seems to be trying to sell his listeners on another "real conservative" that voted for NCLB, Medicare prescription drug expansion, Sarbanes-Oxley, ethanol subsidies, federal housing assistance for prospective low income buyers, etc, etc....a "real conservative that bragged in his own campaign literature about sponsoring legislation to crack down on "price gouing by big oil companies" (sounds like Obama)...a "real conservative" who was a proud provider of billions of dollars of pork for his district and state
Here is a link to his speech last night.. Everything this man says argues against your post.
Precisely. It was not because he spent oodles in advertising knocking other candidates down, but because he personally visited every county in Iowa and people who met him really LIKE him!
Last night's video captures that refreshing, unscripted spirit. He's a family man, youthful, engaging and sincere.
Yup: Let the digging begin
We will have to wait and see how many girlshe screwd in High School and did he ever take another kids lunch mone. have to wait now while Romneybots dig up the dirt on him.
I hope he makes it, I could vote for him with a clear conscience.
I could vote for him, too, he is obviously a good man! I dearly hope he can prove his Dad’s citizenship...there’s some question if his father took (or even knew he needed to take) American citizenship papers after serving in WW II. Although, I doubt anyone will bring it up since Romney also has “natural born” issues...and of course the usurper in the White House now wouldn’t DARE bring it up. But we need to take a think and stop chipping away at the Constitution and the law of the land.
Perry wanted to be the Tim Tebow in the Iowa race, but Santorum did it.
Why does that matter?
I’m glad I was up late last night and caught his speech live. I changed my opinion on him greatly while listening to him. I knew he was conservative before, but now I also like him personally. Rarely have I heard a more honest and heartfelt speech.
Clips were played of a past viewing of Rick Santorum. It seemed to me to be throwing some doubt on this gentleman - particularly with his views on contraception. I have a keen ear for inflexions in voices. That voice seemed like a high school student who was articulate, but very opinionated.
If this was King, then he seemed as if he was turned on by his own bias. Certainly doing Santorum no favours. It may be that I have it wrong, but it soon may be evident that a huge machine will be bought into play. This to crush all semblance of fair reporting. Democracy or no, the MSM have lost their way (imho). Hopefully wiser heads might prevail in the coming election for the presidency.
We have all noticed what the media does to Republicans.
Noticed it? Heck: they don’t even try to hide their bias.
Santorum is about about to come under intense scrutiny. He is about to have his entire life investigated from the cradle to right where he is now.
Ad still we don’t know where Obama came from.
