Houston Chronicle ^ | January 2, 2012

With less than 48 hours until Iowans kick off the GOP caucuses, a crowd of California lawmakers have joined Steve Forbes, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and other supporters making a final push for Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

California Assemblymembers Dan Logue, Shannon Grove, Brian Jones and Curt Hagman have all hit the ground in the Hawkeye State Iowa Monday, ready for duty.

Logue, in a phone interview, just told us that “Iowa is going to do well for Perry — and this is just the first step of many steps.”

I believe the point is, Perry seems to be campaigning exactly the way Mitt Romney is:

Slinging mud.

No thanks. Can’t remember why I originally thought Perry meant anything.

Perry is scary stupid.

His “part-time Congress” statement displays an amazing lack of knowledge regarding Congress’ roll in the Federal Budget cycle, which is a year 'round exercise, as well as major acquisition milestones.

He said that money gets lost in the maze of earmarks. Just the opposite is true. Earmarks are the only way Congress has to ensure that appropriate funds are spent according to the wishes of Congress. Earmarks are not the same as pork.

His term limits on Federal Judges is extra Constitutional and does nothing to return the courts to their rightful place in the hierarchy of power.

There is more, much more. Like I said, scary stupid (as are, apparently some of his supporters).

Nov 14, 2011: Special report: The golden age of opposition research Original source – Reuters.....Overall, Romney is thought to have the best oppo team in this Republican primary, with Yost as chief of research and Matt Rhoades, another veteran of RNC opposition research, as campaign manager. No one in the Romney organization would comment.

*****************

....."Frustrated rivals think they know the secret: a low-profile, hard-driving Republican operative named Matt Rhoades, who is Romney’s campaign manager. Rhoades met Drudge, as POLITICO Editor-in-Chief John F. Harris and co-author Mark Halperin reported in their book “The Way to Win: Taking the White House in 2008,” when he became research director of the Republican National Committee and was introduced by his predecessor on a special trip to Miami. Rhoades has since been seen as a pipeline to the reclusive Drudge, who now has two veteran Washington reporters working on the site as well.".... Source

Perry: Uproot and Overhaul Washington

The Perry Plan: Energizing American Jobs and Security

The Perry Economic Plan: Cut, Balance and Grow

Texas, Austin exception to gloomy retail picture

Texas Debt Clock

[snip] “Dynamic Tax Score for RickPerry.org, Inc. Proposal:

Based on the higher GDP estimates forecast by the dynamic scoring exercise, the Perry proposal will not only lead to an increase in overall economic activity and jobs, but will also lead to higher federal revenues in the long term. In fact, the analysis suggests that revenues could be as much as $406.8 billion higher than under the static model by 2020, and could be as high as 19.5 percent of GDP. The dynamic score of the proposal suggests that lower flatter taxes could generate both more revenue than the current tax code, and significantly more economic growth over time. With increasing demands on the Federal government from growing entitlements, higher pension expenses and interest on the debt, it will be necessary to increase the size of the economy – and the tax base – in order to generate significantly higher revenues. Table 7 shows how the Perry proposals would do this over a seven year period.’ [snip] Tax Proposal Score PDF

And why is a nut job like Paul beating him?

The real question is “why is a nut job like Paul beating all the other candidates except Gringrich and Rommey”?

Must be something in the water, reckon? Or it could just be the candidates that are in the race.

‘tense, have a happy, prosperous and blessed New Year. Don’t take this campaign so personal to let it tear at your soul and fabric. The sun will rise tomorrow and the day after and God’s will will be done.

Governor Rick Perry (R-Texas) has pointed to job growth in Texas during the current economic downturn as one of his main accomplishments. But analysis of Current Population Survey (CPS) data collected by the Census Bureau show that immigrants (legal and illegal) have been the primary beneficiaries of this growth since 2007, not native-born workers. This is true even though the native-born accounted for the vast majority of growth in the working-age population (age 16 to 65) in Texas. Thus, they should have received the lion’s share of the increase in employment. As a result, the share of working-age natives in Texas holding a job has declined in a manner very similar to the nation a whole.

Among the findings:

More likely his part-time congress idea is terrifying the wits out of gov_bean_counters such as yourself.

Go count gov beans on your own time at your own cost.

California lawmakers going to Iowa to support a Texas governor. Wow.

1. Who in the right mind would have ANY California lawmaker stump for them? California might as well be part of Mexico.

2. Another set out 'outsiders' brought into Iowa to tell Iowans how to vote. Brilliant.

I swear Krusty the Clown is running Perry's campaign.

Yeah, right. It shows Perry has no grasp of the Constitution AT ALL. He just tosses out crazy crap, just like the ‘I’ll deport illegals’ line not long ago. Will he start by going after those he gave in-state tuition to?
