Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner is apologizing for comments he made about Michelle Obama that were overheard in an airport Wednesday, when the Wisconsin Republican was reportedly heard complaining that "she lectures us on eating right while she has a large posterior herself."
Fishbowl DC reported yesterday that an unnamed Democratic operative had heard a "very loud" Sensenbrenner, pictured at left, make the comments while talking on the phone in the Delta Crown lounge at Reagan National Airport. The source claimed the Congressmen was relaying a story about his response to a woman who had praised the first lady at a church auction three weeks earlier.
According to the Journal-Sentinel, church members heard Sensenbrenner mocking the first lady's "big butt" at that event on December 10.
Michelle Obama has worked to fight childhood obesity through healthy eating and "let's move" initiatives. According to the Fishbowl DC report, Sensenbrenner suggested on the phone Wednesday that the first lady needs to learn to follow her own advice.
Sensenbrenner spokesperson Amanda Infield told Fishbowl on Thursday that the lawmaker would apologize.
"Mr. Sensenbrenner was referring to the First Lady's healthy food initiative," she said. "He doesn't think the government should be telling Americans what to eat. While he may not agree with all of her initiatives, he plans to contact the First Lady's office to apologize for his comments."
Sensenbrenner, meanwhile, released a statement that he had already sent a note to Mrs. Obama.
"I regret my inappropriate comment and I have sent a personal note to the First Lady apologizing," he said, according to the Journal-Sentinel.

As far as the “Office” of the Presidency deserves respect, that is crazy. It is only an empty room. Respect for the presidency (not the office) depends on the crook who occupies it. Like everybody else, respect has to be earned.

First lady MICHLLE OBAMA fuming as PAULA DEEN dishes on her unhealthy eating habits despite new book “American Grown” PR blitz!
MICHELLE OBAMA is now furious with Southern cooking queen PAULA DEEN for crowing that the first lady, a healthy-eat¬ing advocate who’s waging a war against childhood obesity, pigs out on fatten¬ing foods.
While plugging her new book, “Paula Deen’s Southern Cooking Bible,” the feisty TV chef took a pot shot at Michelle for gorging herself on greasy french fries, fatty hot chicken wings and sug¬ary deep-fried Snickers bars!
“Michelle’s spitting mad,” a source told The ENQUIRER. “She thinks Paula is trying to smear her and her family just as the 2012 presidential election race swings into gear.”

They called President Bush so much worse, but waved the flag of ‘free speech.’ Sensenbrenner is a gentleman that he would apologize. She could spend more time on squats and lunges and cut back on the tricep exercises. All we heard about was her fabulous arms. ‘Course that could come from twisting hubby’s arms behind his back.
