Stand With Arizona
The numbers are dramatic, although you shouldn't expect to hear it trumpeted on your evening news. It simply doesn't fit the media's narrative about "traumatized Latinos" and "crops rotting in the fields" that we heard all Summer long after Alabama's Governor Bentley signed their tough immigration law H.B. 56.
What was really happening in all that time is nothing short of an economic miracle. As we reported last month, in the wake of tens of thousands of fleeing illegal aliens from Alabama, thousands of Alabamans were being hired - producing a sharp drop in the unemployment rate - particularly in comparison with neighboring states.
Then in October, after Federal District Judge Sharon Lovelace Blackburn upheld most portions of H.B. 56 - there was a second wave of departures of illegals from Alabama, who had stayed on in the hopes that the law would be blocked as it was in Arizona in 2010. This wave produced an acceleration in job creation, as the November statistics revealed.
The results speak for themselves - particularly in Marshall County, Alabama's "known hotbed of illegal immigrant labor", which had among the highest percentage of illegal alien workers in the state:

WOW! Get rid of illegals, and Americans get hired! What a concept!
Don’t be shocked if theres a parallel trend in Alabama crime.
Unskilled labor, especially blacks, are the big loser from illegal labor. I’ve had contractors tell me a “Mexican can do the work of four blacks.”
So what’s the black unemployment rate? Sky high.
Yet Dems want to brown out the US and Republicsn party is owned by corporations that could give a flip abOut our country.
Woo Hoo Robert Bentley.
Mo Brooks is our Congress Critter and along with Sessions & Shelby in the Senate . . . now IF we could just get some of the other states to come along with us. And we love our Toyota plant too here in Rocket City U.S.A.
I’d probably agree with those contractors. The Mexicans are very hard workers. I’m from TX and have seen the same thing there. Even my kids, when they were very young, under 6, noticed how different it was shopping at a store with mostly black workers . . . slow lines, etc. Maybe racist, but it is true.
Nancy Pelosi said these were the jobs Americans wouldn't do!
I love the idea, radical as it may seem to liberals.
And the crime, demand on schools, demand on health services and emergency services and...
Yes. We know. This story has been front page above the fold news for weeks.
Every newscast has featured it as the lede as well.
Where you been at?
Problem is second generation are on welfare, in jail, etc. in similar proportion to blacks.
Big alcohol as well as we’re getting Indian/Native American immigrants, not European.
Yeah, who knew?
You know DC is looking at this and preparing to squash the next upstart state that tries to make sense and get US citizens back to work. Oh no, we can’t have that at all.
The media talk as if big business is sooooo bad & the working man soooo good but in fact the biggest subsidy to big biz is ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
If they REALLY back the little guy, they’d decry illegal immigration as the SUBSIDY that it is.
Also, money stops getting sent to Mexico.
Double win.
After seeing a construction crew leaving a government project in Mobile last night, we still have a ways to go. There were a lot of hispanics in the group.
A few months back I was part of a 4 man plus a lead and a driver/material handler computer rollout for a state agency.
I was generally the first on site anywhere in the state, usually the first on the domain, first with my online documentation, and most done on any given day.
There was a hispanic guy who was very good but didn’t have my knowledge and experience but he was the only one who could ever match me. It might have happened a few times. He was generally right behind me in stats.
The other two were black. Rarely on time, produced the least, had the most problems even after months of doing the same simple routines, and had to socialize with every female around regardless. Another funny thing was that they would take the time to neatly pack and break down computers, monitors, laptop docking stations, etc. in each box only for the driver/handler to just pick them up, sort them by type and repack them in another box after being scanned for inventory.
illegal workers? Get them all out.
Problems arising from that? Too bad, go out of business.
I'm a contractor, and I can tell you that that commonly held agreement is way overblown. Sure, illegals will work like the dickens, but most of what they produce is sub-standard crap.
I've been dealing with the results of cheap illegal labor for twenty years in my trade. I don't know how many jobs we've made good money on, where we were hired to correct the schlock work of illegal construction workers.
